  •   Ceropegia Linearis String of Needles is a trailing succulent vine native to South Africa, where it grows through rocky, semi-arid scrubland. It is a member of the Apocynaceae family and develops naturally in open, well-draining terrain.

The plant earns its common name from slender, needle-like leaves that grow in pairs along long, wiry trailing stems. The foliage is narrow and pointed, typically green, creating a feathery texture unlike most succulents. It trails freely from hanging baskets or cascades from high planters with stems that develop along a sturdy support or hook.

String of Needles produces small, tubular flowers characteristic of the Ceropegia genus. A cool nighttime temperature drop into the 50–60°F range during the growing season triggers blooms indoors. Rotating the pot regularly ensures balanced growth on all sides, and it tolerates the dry heated air found in most homes.

This plant is pet friendly and safe for cats and dogs. You can leave it up to ten days without water. Move it outside in summer with shelter from heavy rain, and bring it back indoors before temperatures drop in autumn. Stem cuttings root easily in well-draining soil or water, making propagation straightforward.

  •   Ceropegia Linearis String of Needles grows well in bright indirect light to partial sun, tolerating some full sun with protection from intense midday rays.

Water it every 10–14 days in summer and every 3–4 weeks in winter, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings.

String of Needles does best in a fast-draining succulent or cactus mix blended with perlite for excellent drainage and root health.

It prefers temperatures between 60–85°F and must stay above 50°F, as frost damages the plant.

String of Needles is a moderate to slow grower that benefits from light balanced fertilizer once a month during the active growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9–11, tolerating minimum temperatures around 25–30°F only briefly and with protection. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Nevada. It grows well in coastal areas of Oregon, parts of New Mexico, and protected microclimates in Virginia and North Carolina through mild winters.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
