'Saffarina' forms tight, symmetrical rosettes with fleshy, pointed leaves that blend saffron, amber, and coppery tones. The leaf color intensifies under full sun exposure, deepening into jewel-like hues. As a clustering grower, it produces offsets that gradually form a dense, sculptural mat of overlapping rosettes. Individual rosettes typically reach two to four inches in diameter.
It can survive up to ten days without water. It handles the warm, dry conditions created by indoor heating without stress, and balcony wind and occasional rain cause it no trouble. Unlike many succulents that decline in dry indoor air, 'Saffarina' grows well in those conditions.
'Saffarina' is non-toxic and safe around cats and dogs. Move it outside in summer to a sunny balcony or garden bed, where it continues to perform well. It can remain outdoors through autumn and even into winter in most temperate climates. Separate offsets to propagate new plants; allow the cut end to callous for a day before potting into well-draining soil.
