    •   Tillandsia capitata Blue Raspberry is an air plant in the Bromeliaceae family, native to Central and South America. It grows without soil, anchoring itself to trees and other surfaces in its natural habitat, and performs the same way indoors or in a terrarium setting.

'Blue Raspberry' forms a compact rosette of narrow, silvery-green leaves that deepen to sapphire blue and burgundy tones when exposed to direct sun. The foliage is powdery to the touch, with a fine texture. It grows as a clumping tillandsia, often producing offsets around the base, and reaches a modest size suitable for shelves, desks, and open displays.

It produces small red and purple flower spikes that emerge from the center of the rosette, typically blooming in spring and summer. After flowering, 'Blue Raspberry' generates pups or offsets from the base, which can be separated and grown individually once they reach about one-third the size of the mother plant.

'Blue Raspberry' handles direct sun and low-light spots equally well, though brighter conditions intensify the blue and red leaf tones. It tolerates drafty locations and adapts to balcony wind and rain when moved outdoors for the summer months. It performs well in terrariums and near kitchen moisture. It is pet-friendly, making it safe for homes with cats and dogs. Move it outside in autumn if temperatures stay above freezing. The plant wilts slightly when very dry.

    •   Tillandsia capitata Blue Raspberry grows well in direct sun or low light, with blue tones deepening in brighter conditions.

Soak it weekly in room-temperature water for 20-30 minutes, then shake off excess water to prevent rot at the base.

'Blue Raspberry' grows without soil, mounting easily on driftwood, cork bark, wire frames, shells, or open dishes without glue.

It prefers temperatures between 50-80°F and is sensitive to cold drafts from air conditioning and heating vents.

'Blue Raspberry' is a slow to moderate clumping grower; fertilize monthly during spring and summer with diluted tillandsia-specific fertilizer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10-11, tolerating temperatures above 50°F outdoors year-round. It grows outdoors in southern California, Arizona, southern Texas, and Hawaii. Bring it inside if temperatures drop below 50°F in other regions.

    • Q: How often should I water Tillandsia capitata Blue Raspberry?
A: Soak it weekly for 20-30 minutes and shake off any standing water at the base to prevent rot. During winter months, extend the interval to once every two weeks.

Q: Does this air plant need soil to survive?
A: No, Tillandsia capitata Blue Raspberry grows without soil as an epiphyte. Mount it on driftwood, cork bark, shells, or open dishes for display.

Q: Is 'Blue Raspberry' safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic to cats, dogs, and other pets.

Q: Will the leaf color stay blue indoors?
A: 'Blue Raspberry' retains some blue and burgundy tones indoors but will show more green in low light.

Q: Can 'Blue Raspberry' grow outdoors year-round?
A: It can stay outdoors in USDA zones 10-11 during summer months in cooler regions if temperatures stay above 50°F. Bring it inside before frost arrives.

Q: How does this plant handle humidity?
A: 'Blue Raspberry' performs well in high-humidity environments and shows stronger growth in kitchens, bathrooms, and terrariums. It can tolerate average indoor humidity but performs better with misting or regular soaking.
