  •   Cape Blanco Sedum Spathulifolium is a cold hardy, drought tolerant broadleaf stonecrop succulent native to the rocky coastal cliffs of the Pacific Northwest, ranging from northern California through Oregon and Washington. This member of the Crassulaceae family grows well in lean, fast-draining soils where most plants cannot survive.

Sedum 'Cape Blanco' forms tight rosettes of spoon-shaped leaves with a powdery, silver-white to blue-green coating that gives the plant its frosted appearance. The leaves are thick and fleshy, packed with moisture-storing tissue that enables the plant to handle extended dry periods. Rosettes spread outward in a low, wide mat that hugs the ground, suitable for containers, rock gardens, and border edging.

In late spring to early summer, it produces clusters of small, bright yellow star-shaped flowers on short upright stems. The blooms attract pollinators without producing heavy pollen, and the plant maintains its year-round rosette form even when not in flower.

You can leave it up to ten days without water. It handles frost down to -20°F, making it suitable for gardens across a wide range of climates. Move it outside in summer and it tolerates balcony wind and exposure without trouble. Pet friendly, it can be displayed anywhere in your home or garden without concern.

  •   Cape Blanco Sedum Spathulifolium grows well in bright indirect light and handles direct sun outdoors or lower light indoors.

Water it deeply but infrequently, roughly every 10 to 14 days during the growing season and once a month or less in winter.

Sedum 'Cape Blanco' does best in a gritty, fast-draining succulent or cactus mix blended with perlite or coarse sand.

It handles frost down to -20°F and grows well in temperatures across a wide range of climates.

Sedum 'Cape Blanco' is a slow to moderate grower that rarely needs pruning and benefits from light balanced fertilizer once in spring.

It is hardy in USDA zones 5 through 9. It grows outdoors year-round in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
  • Q: Is Cape Blanco Sedum Spathulifolium pet friendly?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs, so you can display it freely on low shelves, windowsills, or in the garden.

Q: What happens if I overwater it?
A: Cape Blanco Sedum Spathulifolium is susceptible to root rot in wet soil; the roots suffocate and decay when the medium stays saturated for extended periods.

Q: How fast does Sedum 'Cape Blanco' spread?
A: It is a slow to moderate grower that spreads outward over time without becoming invasive or taking over a pot.

Q: Can it survive indoors year-round?
A: Sedum 'Cape Blanco' prefers outdoor conditions but can be grown indoors in bright indirect light if you reduce watering during winter.

Q: How do you propagate Sedum 'Cape Blanco'?
A: Individual rosette offsets root readily when pressed into well-draining soil in bright indirect light; leaf cuttings take longer but succeed if allowed to callous for a day or two before planting.

Q: Will it scorch in full sun?
A: Sedum 'Cape Blanco' handles direct sun outdoors without leaf burn; extended periods of intense afternoon heat may shift the foliage color slightly but do not damage the plant.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
