  •   Sempervivum 'Pacific Trails' is a frost hardy succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to the mountainous regions of Europe and Western Asia. Sempervivums have grown for centuries in rocky, alpine habitats, making them among the toughest drought tolerant succulents available to home gardeners and collectors.

'Pacific Trails' forms tight rosettes with fleshy, pointed leaves that shift from green to red depending on sun exposure and season. The velvety, textured leaf surface distinguishes it from smoother sempervivum cultivars. As a clustering, trailing grower, it steadily produces offsets that spread outward, creating a dense mat of rosettes over time.

Individual rosettes bloom once, then fade as surrounding offsets take over, keeping the colony full and established. This monocarpic flowering pattern is typical of hens and chicks succulents. One of its most celebrated traits is extreme frost hardiness, surviving temperatures far colder than most other succulents can endure.

'Pacific Trails' is a drought tolerant succulent that suits rock gardens, alpine troughs, container arrangements, and patio displays. Move it outside for summer and it handles balcony wind without trouble. The compact clustering habit makes it a natural fit for ground cover plantings. This plant is cat friendly and dog friendly, so households with pets can enjoy it without concern. Gently separate the offsets from the mother rosette and replant them in fresh, gritty soil to propagate.

  •   Sempervivum 'Pacific Trails' grows well in partial sun to full sun, though intense south-facing indoor windows may scorch the leaves.

Water it every 10-14 days during the growing season, then reduce to once a month or less in winter.

'Pacific Trails' grows best in a gritty, fast-draining mix such as cactus soil blended with extra perlite.

It handles a wide range from around 25°F up to 90°F, with exceptional frost hardiness in cold climates.

'Pacific Trails' is a moderate, steady grower that produces healthy offsets with little to no fertilizer needed.

It is hardy in USDA zones 4-9, tolerating temperatures down to around -30°F in protected conditions. It grows outdoors in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Arkansas. It also grows outdoors in Oklahoma and much of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Nevada. In Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, and the moderate zones of Texas and California, it does well with good drainage and some afternoon shade.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
