Its chain-like stems are made up of flattened, linked segments that grow in trailing formations. The stems are forest green and can develop reddish tones when exposed to increased light. As 'Paradox' grows, it forms dense, flowing clusters that drape over containers, making it excellent for hanging baskets and elevated surfaces. The overall form is architectural and botanical, quite different from typical houseplants.
Under the right conditions, it produces small white flowers followed by tiny fruit, though this occurs less reliably indoors than in its native habitat. The plant grows well in high humidity environments, which also supports more consistent blooming. It grows well near kitchen moisture or inside a terrarium where humidity stays elevated.
Move it outside for summer once temperatures stay above 50°F. 'Paradox' grows well in office spaces under LED lighting and in hanging containers where the trailing stems can extend freely. You can leave it up to ten days without water. It is pet friendly and safe around cats and dogs. It tolerates basic care without special attention to fertilizing or pruning.
Rhipsalis Paradox grows well in low light and bright indirect light, including areas lit by office LEDs or north-facing windows.
