The rosette is tightly packed with thick, spoon-shaped leaves that range from powdery blue-green to soft blue-gray, sometimes edging into pale lavender along the tips. Each leaf has a smooth, waxy surface with a light farina coating that gives the plant its muted, dusty appearance. 'Romance' stays compact, typically reaching around 4 to 6 inches across at maturity.
It produces slender arching stems in spring and summer, each tipped with small coral-to-orange bell-shaped flowers. Blooms appear once a year during the warmer months and attract pollinators outdoors. The flowers have no notable fragrance.
Rotate 'Romance' every week or two so all sides receive equal light and the rosette stays symmetrical. Move it outside for the summer months, but keep it sheltered from rain, as sitting water in the rosette can cause rot. It tolerates the dry, heated air common in most homes and releases oxygen at night. You can leave it up to ten days without water, and this plant is pet friendly.
Echeveria 'Romance' grows well in bright indirect light to partial direct sun, placed near an east- or west-facing window.
Water it every 10 to 14 days during spring and summer, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings, and reduce to once a month in winter.
'Romance' does best in a well-draining cactus and succulent mix, ideally amended with perlite or coarse sand to prevent moisture buildup at the roots.
It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F indoors and should be kept away from cold drafts, air conditioning vents, and heating units that blow directly on the leaves.
It is hardy in USDA zones 9b through 11, tolerating outdoor temperatures down to around 25°F before frost damage occurs. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and other warm southern and coastal states within those zones.

A: A south-facing window can scorch the leaves, so an east- or west-facing windowsill is a better fit. Around 4 to 6 hours of bright, indirect light per day works well indoors.
