The leaves are broad, spoon-shaped, and arranged in a dense, flat rosette that typically reaches three to four inches across. They are a soft blue-grey with faintly powdery coating and pointed tips that can flush pink or lavender at the edges when exposed to bright light. The surface has a smooth, matte finish from a natural farina layer.
'Lara' produces arching flower stalks in spring or early summer, carrying small coral to orange bell-shaped blooms. A drop in nighttime temperatures encourages the plant to set buds more reliably. Rotate it every few weeks so all sides of the rosette receive even light and the shape stays symmetrical.
