  •   Aloe 'Snowstorm' is a compact rosette succulent in the Asphodelaceae family, developed as a cultivated hybrid aloe valued for its heavily spotted foliage and drought tolerant nature. It forms a tight, symmetrical rosette that stays manageable indoors, and like other aloe cultivars, it originates from hybridization work drawing on southern African aloe species.

The leaves are thick and fleshy, forest green, and densely covered in white spots and flecks that run across the surface in irregular patterns. Each leaf is lance-shaped with slightly serrated margins tipped in small teeth. The rosette stays compact, typically reaching around 6 to 8 inches across at maturity, and the overall form is upright with leaves that angle outward from the center.

Aloe Snowstorm can push up a slender flower spike when given a drop in night temperatures during late winter or early spring, producing tubular blooms in orange to coral tones. Beyond any blooming period, it releases oxygen at night rather than during the day, which sets it apart from most common houseplants. It does not produce significant pollen or allergens indoors.

You can leave it up to ten days without water, and it handles the dry heated air common in most homes and apartments through winter. Move it outside for summer in a sheltered spot, but cover it or bring it in during heavy rain, since sitting in pooled water causes root problems. Cats, dogs, and small children should not have access to it. The sap can cause skin and paw irritation on contact, and keep Aloe Snowstorm on a high shelf or out of reach entirely. It works well as a starter plant or as part of a collection of white spotted aloe and compact rosette succulents, and a mature specimen has the kind of structured form that suits both a minimalist shelf and a bohemian arrangement of mixed pots.

  •   Aloe 'Snowstorm' grows well in bright indirect light to direct sun, though south-facing windows can scorch the leaf tips.

It needs water every 10 to 14 days in the growing season, and once a month in winter, letting the soil dry out fully between waterings.

Aloe Snowstorm does best in a fast-draining cactus and perlite mix that does not retain moisture around the roots.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 85°F and is sensitive to cold air from air conditioners or direct heater vents nearby.

Aloe Snowstorm is a slow-growing succulent; feed it once in spring and once in summer with a diluted balanced fertilizer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 to 11, tolerating brief dips no lower than around 25°F to 30°F before frost damage occurs. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, and Hawaii. It also grows outdoors in coastal parts of Oregon and Washington where winters stay mild.
  • Q: How much sun does Aloe 'Snowstorm' need?
A: East or west-facing windows work well indoors. A south-facing window can scorch the leaf tips, so place it a few feet back or filter the light with a sheer curtain.

Q: How do I know when to water it?
A: Aloe 'Snowstorm' will wilt slightly and the lower leaves may feel softer or thinner when it has been dry too long. If the soil still feels damp an inch down, wait a few more days.

Q: Is Aloe Snowstorm safe around pets and children?
A: Cats and dogs should not be left to nibble or eat it, and the sap can irritate skin and paws on contact. Keep it on a high shelf away from small children and pets.

Q: How fast does it grow?
A: Aloe Snowstorm is a slow-growing succulent, so it will not outgrow its pot quickly and rarely needs repotting more than every two to three years.

Q: Can Aloe Snowstorm be propagated at home?
A: It offsets over time, producing small pups around the base of the rosette. Separate these once they have a few leaves of their own and pot them individually in a dry, fast-draining mix.

    Q: What causes yellow leaves?
A: Overwatering is the most common cause. Aloe Snowstorm sitting in soggy soil will show yellowing leaves that feel soft or mushy at the base, often before any visible root damage is obvious.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
