  •   Sempervivum 'Poco Loco' is a cold hardy houseleek succulent from the Crassulaceae family, native to the mountainous regions of Europe. It has earned its place in rock gardens and outdoor collections for its exceptional frost tolerance and low-maintenance nature.

Poco Loco forms tight, symmetrical rosettes of thick, fleshy leaves with bright green coloration and purple tips. The compact rosettes reach 2-3 inches across, with pointed leaves arranged in perfect geometric patterns. Clustering growth produces dense mats of baby rosettes around the mother plant, creating a spreading colony effect over time.

Small star-shaped flowers bloom on tall stalks during summer months in pink or white hues, appearing infrequently once the rosette reaches maturity. The plant is completely non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Poco Loco grows well in rock gardens, container displays, and alpine plantings where its frost tolerance excels. It handles balcony wind and rain exceptionally well, though some protection during extended wet periods prevents rot. You can leave it up to ten days without water. The clustering habit means new offsets naturally propagate around the base, giving collectors ongoing material for expansion or sharing.

  •   Sempervivum 'Poco Loco' grows well in partial sun to full sun, with regular rotation for even, symmetrical growth.

Water it deeply but infrequently every 10-14 days during the growing season, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings.

Poco Loco does best in well-draining soil, preferably a cactus mix amended with perlite or pumice.

It prefers temperatures between 20-80°F and survives frost down to 10°F, making it hardy in cold climates year-round.

Poco Loco grows slowly and rarely needs fertilizer, producing offsets naturally throughout the growing season without additional feeding.

It is hardy in USDA zones 3-9, tolerating frost temperatures as low as 10°F. It grows outdoors year-round across most northern states including Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, and Alaska. It grows equally well in middle zones covering Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, northern Georgia, northern Alabama, northern Arkansas, and parts of Oklahoma and Texas.
  • Q: How often should I water Sempervivum 'Poco Loco'?
A: Every 10-14 days during the growing season, letting soil dry completely between waterings. Reduce watering frequency in winter to once monthly or less.

Q: Is it safe for homes with cats and dogs?
A: Sempervivum 'Poco Loco' is completely non-toxic and safe around all pets with zero toxicity concerns.

Q: What happens if Poco Loco gets too much light?
A: The leaves can shift from green to deeper purple or red tones in intense sunlight, which is a normal color response.

Q: How quickly does it spread?
A: Poco Loco grows slowly but produces offsets steadily throughout the growing season, gradually building a dense colony from the mother rosette outward.

Q: Can Poco Loco survive outdoors year-round?
A: In USDA zones 3-9 it stays outside through winter without protection, surviving freezes down to 10°F and below.

Q: Does it need any special setup indoors?
A: Poco Loco adapts to indoor conditions with bright light and good air circulation, though it transitions easily between indoor and outdoor locations during seasonal changes.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
