  •   Graptopetalum Purple Delight is a drought-tolerant succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to the rocky, arid regions of Mexico. It has traveled from its dry homeland into homes and collections worldwide, growing in bright, well-drained conditions that mirror its natural habitat.

'Purple Delight' forms compact rosettes packed with thick, fleshy leaves in lavender, dusty purple, and silvery-pink tones that deepen with increased sun exposure. The leaves have a powdery, chalky coating called farina that gives the plant its frosted appearance. As a trailing and clustering succulent, it naturally cascades over time, spreading when grown in hanging baskets or shallow containers.

With a nighttime temperature drop, 'Purple Delight' produces small star-shaped flowers on slender stems during the blooming season. The plant does produce pollen and allergens, so note this if anyone in your home has sensitivities.

You can leave it up to ten days without water. Move it outside in summer to a bright, sheltered spot, but ensure it has cover from rain to prevent root rot. Plant it in a hanging basket to display its trailing habit, and rotate it regularly for even, symmetrical growth. This succulent is non-toxic and cat and dog friendly, so you can display it anywhere in your home without worry.

  •   Graptopetalum Purple Delight grows well in bright indirect light, partial sun, or full sun, ideally near an east or west-facing window.

Water it every 10 to 14 days in summer and once every 3 to 4 weeks in winter, always letting soil dry fully between waterings.

'Purple Delight' performs best in a fast-draining cactus and succulent mix combined with coarse perlite or pumice for added drainage.

It prefers temperatures between 65 and 85°F and should be brought indoors before temperatures drop below 25 to 30°F.

'Purple Delight' is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from a light, balanced succulent fertilizer once monthly during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 11 and tolerates brief dips to around 25 to 30°F before needing frost protection. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Nevada, as well as portions of Oregon and Washington along the milder Pacific coast. Proper drainage and seasonal shelter ensure success in these regions.
  • Q: How often should I water Graptopetalum Purple Delight?
A: During warm months, allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot. Reduce frequency significantly in winter when the plant's water needs drop.

Q: Is this plant safe around cats and dogs?
A: Graptopetalum Purple Delight is non-toxic and safe for both cats and dogs.

Q: How much light does 'Purple Delight' need?
A: It loves bright indirect light to full sun and does best near an east or west-facing window. Intense south-facing windows can scorch the leaves, so monitor for sun stress and adjust placement if needed.

Q: How do I propagate this succulent?
A: 'Purple Delight' propagates easily from leaf cuttings or offsets pulled from the base of the mother plant. Let cuttings callous for a day or two before placing them on dry succulent mix, then mist lightly until roots form.

Q: How big does 'Purple Delight' get?
A: It typically grows to about 4 to 6 inches tall per rosette and spreads and trails as it clusters over time, staying compact enough for pots and hanging baskets.

Q: Can I move this plant outside for summer?
A: 'Purple Delight' thrives when moved outdoors in summer to a bright, sheltered spot with cover from rain. Bring it back inside before temperatures drop in autumn.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
