  •   Echeveria 'Tulip' is a compact rosette succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to the semi-arid regions of Mexico. It belongs to one of the most widely grown succulent genera, known for tight, symmetrical rosettes that hold their shape year-round.

The leaves are thick, spoon-shaped, and curve inward slightly at the tips, giving the rosette a cupped, tulip-like appearance. Leaf color ranges from soft blue-green to pale mint, with a powdery farina coating the surface. The rosette typically stays compact, forming a neat mound of layered leaves.

'Tulip' can produce slender arching stems with small, bell-shaped flowers in orange or pink tones, usually appearing in spring or early summer. A nighttime temperature drop encourages blooming. This plant is pet friendly, so it can sit on a low shelf or coffee table without concern.

Move it outside for summer once temperatures stay reliably warm, placing it in a bright spot with some protection from heavy rain. In autumn, it can stay outdoors as temperatures begin to cool. Keep it away from direct air conditioning or heating vents, and rotate the pot every few weeks for even growth on all sides. You can leave it up to ten days without water, and it wilts slightly when dry.

  •   Echeveria 'Tulip' grows well in bright indirect light and tolerates some direct morning sun indoors.

Water it every 10-14 days in the growing season, letting the soil dry out completely between waterings.

'Tulip' does best in a gritty, well-draining cactus or succulent mix with added perlite.

It prefers temperatures between 60-80°F and should be kept away from cold drafts below 40°F.

'Tulip' is a slow-growing succulent; feed it once in spring and once in summer with a diluted balanced fertilizer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11, tolerating brief dips to around 25-30°F. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and along the Gulf Coast. It also grows outdoors in parts of Georgia, South Carolina, and New Mexico where winters stay mild.
  • Q: How much light does Echeveria 'Tulip' need indoors?
A: A south- or east-facing windowsill works well. Too little light causes the rosette to stretch and lose its compact shape, while harsh afternoon sun through a south window can scorch the leaves.

Q: How do I know when it needs water?
A: Echeveria 'Tulip' wilts slightly and the leaves feel softer than usual when the soil has been dry long enough. Check that the top inch of soil is completely dry before watering again.

Q: Is 'Tulip' safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic to cats and dogs.

Q: How fast does this succulent grow?
A: 'Tulip' is a slow grower, adding only a small amount of new leaf growth each season. Repotting is rarely needed more than once every two to three years.

Q: Can 'Tulip' be propagated at home?
A: Leaf propagation works well. Gently twist a healthy leaf off cleanly at the base, let it callous for a day or two, then lay it on dry succulent mix. Small rosettes form at the base of the leaf over several weeks.

Q: What happens if this succulent is overwatered?
A: 'Tulip' develops root rot quickly when the soil stays wet. The lower leaves turn soft and translucent first, and the rosette may feel mushy at the base.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
