  •   Echeveria Setosa var. Deminuta is a rare, compact succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to the highlands of Mexico where it grows naturally in rocky, well-drained terrain with abundant sun and cool nights. This succulent is sought after by collectors for its miniature rosettes.

It forms tight, clustering rosettes densely covered in fine white hairs that give the leaves a soft, silvery-gray finish. The fleshy, spoon-shaped leaves taper to a subtle point, creating a starburst silhouette at 2" or 4" sizes. The velvety texture is visible against most other echeveria varieties.

Echeveria Deminuta produces vivid coral-red and yellow-tipped tubular flowers on slender stems, typically in spring and early summer. A drop in nighttime temperatures is the key trigger that encourages it to bloom, so placing it near a cool window in late winter produces results. The blooms earn the plant its firecracker nickname.

Grow it indoors under bright office LEDs or near a window, or move it outside in summer for extra sun. Bring it under cover during rain to protect the rosettes, since standing water in the center causes rot. It clusters slowly over time, producing offsets that form a multi-rosette display. It is non-toxic to cats and dogs.

  •   Echeveria Setosa var. Deminuta grows well in bright indirect light to full sun, though south-facing windows can scorch the leaves.

Water it every 10-14 days in summer and every 3-4 weeks in winter, letting soil dry completely between waterings.

Echeveria Deminuta does best in a fast-draining cactus and perlite mix, ideally 50% gritty amendment to prevent root rot.

It prefers temperatures between 60–80°F and should be kept above 25°F to avoid frost damage.

Echeveria Deminuta is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength once monthly in spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11, tolerating brief dips to around 25°F before frost damage becomes a risk. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and coastal Oregon. In borderline Zone 9 areas such as parts of New Mexico, Arkansas, and northern Florida, mulch well or bring it inside during hard freezes.
  • Q: How often should I water Echeveria Setosa var. Deminuta?
A: Slight leaf wrinkling or wilting appears before watering becomes urgent. Check the soil first by inserting your finger an inch down; water only if it feels completely dry.

Q: Is this plant safe around pets?
A: Echeveria Setosa var. Deminuta is non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it a safe choice for pet households.

Q: What light conditions does Echeveria Deminuta prefer indoors?
A: It grows well in bright windows with partial to full sun and can thrive under strong office LEDs. Rotate it regularly so every side of the rosette develops evenly.

Q: How large does this succulent get?
A: Echeveria Deminuta produces individual rosettes typically 2–4 inches across and stays quite compact. Over time it slowly produces offsets and forms a multi-rosette cluster.

Q: How do I trigger blooms on Echeveria Deminuta?
A: Expose it to cool nighttime temperatures in late winter, ideally dropping into the low 50s°F, combined with bright light to encourage bud formation.

Q: Can this plant survive outdoors year-round in cold regions?
A: Echeveria Deminuta grows best outdoors in zones 9-11 where temperatures stay above 25°F. In borderline Zone 9 areas, mulch well or bring it inside during hard freezes to protect it from frost damage.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
