  •   Echeveria 'Seaglass' is a compact rosette succulent in the family Crassulaceae, originating from the semi-arid highlands of Mexico where it developed its characteristic drought tolerance and preference for bright, dry conditions. It is a rare cultivar, sought after for its pale blue-green leaves and slow, tidy growth habit.

'Seaglass' forms a tight rosette of thick, spoon-shaped leaves in a soft silvery blue-green, with a powdery farina coating the surface. The leaf tips carry a faint blush of pink or lavender in higher light. It stays compact, typically reaching two to four inches across, and holds its shape without sprawling.

It produces slender arching stems in spring or early summer, tipped with small coral-pink to orange bell-shaped flowers. Blooming is more reliable when it receives a drop in nighttime temperatures in autumn and winter. The flowers are not fragrant, but the contrast between the pale rosette and the warm-toned blooms is distinct.

You can leave it up to ten days without water, and it tolerates the dry heated air that comes with indoor central heating. Move it outside for the summer months, but keep it covered from rain, since sitting water on the rosette leads to rot. 'Seaglass' is a rare compact succulent that works well on a windowsill, desk, or shelf, and this plant is pet friendly.

  •   Echeveria 'Seaglass' grows best in bright indirect light and can handle some direct morning sun.

Water it every ten to fourteen days in the growing season, letting the soil dry out completely between waterings.

'Seaglass' does best in a fast-draining mix of cactus soil blended with perlite at a roughly 1:1 ratio.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 80°F and needs a cooler drop to around 50°F at night in autumn to trigger blooming.

'Seaglass' is a slow-growing compact succulent; feed it once in spring and once in early summer with a diluted balanced fertilizer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9b through 11b, tolerating brief dips to around 25°F before frost damage occurs. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and coastal areas of the Gulf and Pacific Southwest. It can stay outdoors through autumn in zone 9b regions before temperatures push it back inside.
  • Q: Does Echeveria 'Seaglass' need to be rotated?
A: Yes, rotate it a quarter turn every week or two so all sides receive even light and the rosette stays symmetrical rather than leaning toward the window.

Q: Is this succulent safe for cats and dogs?
A: Echeveria 'Seaglass' is non-toxic and pet friendly, so it is safe to keep in homes with cats and dogs.

Q: Can 'Seaglass' sit in a south-facing window?
A: A south-facing window in full summer sun can scorch the farina-coated leaves, leaving pale or brown patches. An east- or west-facing window a few inches back from the glass is a safer placement.

Q: How do I know when it needs water?
A: 'Seaglass' wilts slightly and the leaves feel softer or slightly puckered when the soil has been dry long enough that it is ready for water.

Q: How sensitive is 'Seaglass' to air vents and drafts?
A: Keep it away from air conditioning vents and heating registers, as the direct airflow dries out the leaves unevenly and can stress the rosette.

Q: Can this succulent be propagated at home?
A: 'Seaglass' propagates from individual leaves or offsets. Pull a leaf cleanly from the base, let it callous for a day or two, then lay it on dry cactus mix and mist lightly every few days until roots appear.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
