  •   Echeveria Samba is a coral-pink rosette succulent in the family Crassulaceae, native to the semi-arid highlands of Mexico. It grows as a compact, symmetrical rosette and belongs to one of the most diverse genera of succulents cultivated worldwide.

The leaves are fleshy and spoon-shaped, fanning out in a tight, layered rosette with softly ruffled edges. The color runs coral-pink to warm salmon at the tips, fading to a soft forest green at the base, with a powdery farina coating the surface. Each rosette holds its form neatly and does not sprawl, staying compact even as it matures.

'Samba' produces slender arching stems in spring, tipped with small coral to orange-red bell-shaped flowers. Blooming typically occurs once a year when the plant receives a drop in nighttime temperature in the weeks before the season. This plant is pet friendly, so it can sit on a coffee table or low shelf without concern.

Rotate 'Samba' a quarter turn every week or two so all sides receive even light and the rosette stays symmetrical. Keep it away from air conditioning vents and heating units, as direct blasts of dry conditioned air cause the leaf edges to dry unevenly. It tolerates the dry heated air that comes with winter indoor living, but directed airflow is a different matter. Move it outside for summer, but cover it or bring it under shelter when rain is expected, since sitting water pools in the rosette and causes rot. You can leave it up to ten days without water, and it wilts slightly when the soil has been dry long enough to need a drink.

  •   Echeveria Samba grows best in bright indirect light or a few hours of direct morning sun each day.

It needs water every 10 to 14 days in the growing season, letting the soil dry out fully between waterings.

'Samba' does best in a gritty, fast-draining mix of cactus soil blended with perlite at a roughly 1:1 ratio.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 80°F and should be kept above 40°F at all times.

'Samba' is a slow-growing succulent; feed it once a month in spring and summer with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 to 11, tolerating brief dips to around 25°F to 30°F before frost damage sets in. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and along the Gulf Coast. It also does well outdoors through autumn in zone 8 areas before being brought inside for winter.
  • Q: Is Echeveria Samba safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic to cats and dogs and is considered pet safe.

Q: Why are the leaves on my succulent turning yellow?
A: Yellowing leaves on Echeveria Samba are almost always caused by overwatering. Let the soil dry out completely between waterings and make sure the pot drains freely.

Q: How do I know when 'Samba' needs water?
A: The leaves will look slightly soft or begin to wrinkle when the soil has been dry long enough. Check the top inch or two of soil before watering.

Q: Can this succulent scorch in a sunny window?
A: 'Samba' can scorch if placed in a south-facing window with intense midday sun for several hours. An east-facing or lightly filtered west-facing window works better indoors.

Q: How do I propagate 'Samba'?
A: Twist a healthy leaf cleanly from the base of the rosette, let it callous over for a day or two, then lay it on dry cactus mix. Roots and a tiny rosette will emerge from the base of the leaf within a few weeks.

Q: What size does this succulent reach at maturity?
A: 'Samba' typically reaches about 3 to 5 inches across at full maturity, staying compact and well-suited to a windowsill or a small decorative pot.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
