  •   Echeveria Dark Rose is a compact rosette-forming succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to the semi-arid regions of Mexico and Central America. This dark purple succulent has become a sought-after collector find among rosette succulent enthusiasts for its unusually deep foliage color.

The leaves are thick, fleshy, and spoon-shaped, arranged in a tight symmetrical rosette. They hold a deep burgundy-purple to near-black tone that intensifies in bright light. Leaf edges can take on a slightly dusty, powdery coating from their natural epicuticular wax layer.

'Dark Rose' occasionally produces tall, arching flower stalks with coral-pink to orange-red bell-shaped blooms. A drop in nighttime temperatures during autumn can encourage it to bloom. The flowers attract pollinators and appear above the rosette on slender stems.

Rotate 'Dark Rose' a quarter turn every week or two so all sides receive even light exposure. Keep it away from air conditioning vents and heating units, as direct airflow dries the leaves unevenly. Move it outside in summer, but cover it or bring it under shelter during rain, as standing water in the rosette causes rot. This plant is pet friendly, and it releases oxygen at night. You can leave it up to ten days without water.

  •   Echeveria Dark Rose grows best in bright indirect light, about two feet back from an east- or west-facing window.

Water it every ten to fourteen days, letting the soil dry out completely between sessions.

'Dark Rose' does best in a gritty, fast-draining cactus and perlite mix with no moisture-retaining additives.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and should stay above 40°F at all times.

'Dark Rose' is a slow-growing succulent; feed it with a diluted balanced fertilizer once in spring and once in summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 11, tolerating outdoor temperatures down to around 25°F to 30°F for brief periods. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and coastal areas of Georgia and South Carolina. In cooler zones, it grows outdoors from late spring through early autumn and overwinters indoors.
  • Q: How often should I water Echeveria Dark Rose?
A: Push a finger about an inch into the soil — if it still feels damp, wait a few more days. The leaves will wilt slightly and feel softer when the plant is genuinely dry.

Q: How much light does this succulent need?
A: Echeveria Dark Rose grows well about two feet back from a south or west window where it gets strong ambient light without direct midday rays hitting the leaves. A south-facing windowsill can scorch the tips.

Q: Can 'Dark Rose' survive a two-week trip without watering?
A: Up to ten days is safe as long as the soil was completely dry before you left. Beyond that, the leaves begin to soften and shrivel noticeably.

Q: How do I get this plant to bloom?
A: 'Dark Rose' is more likely to send up a flower stalk after experiencing cooler nights, around 50°F to 55°F, for several weeks in autumn. Moving it near a window where temperatures drop at night can help trigger it.

Q: Is 'Dark Rose' safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic to cats and dogs.

Q: How do I propagate this succulent?
A: 'Dark Rose' propagates readily from individual leaves or offsets. Gently twist a healthy leaf free, let the end callous for a day or two, then lay it on dry succulent mix and mist lightly every few days until roots and a tiny rosette form.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
