The leaves are broad and shield-shaped, with a surface that has a copper-red metallic sheen and deep, contrasting veins pressed into the blade. Undersides are a deep burgundy-purple. New leaves emerge in a glossy red tone before deepening, and each leaf can reach up to twelve inches across on a mature plant.
As a foliage-focused plant, 'Red Secret' rarely flowers indoors, and bloom details are not well documented in cultivation. It does, however, purify indoor air and has been shown to filter formaldehyde and other airborne toxins. Rotate it regularly so each side receives even light exposure.
Keep 'Red Secret' away from south-facing windows, where direct sun scorches the leaf surface. It thrives near the natural moisture of a kitchen and does well placed inside a large terrarium.
