  •   Echeveria Agavoides, also called Lipstick Echeveria, is a rosette-forming succulent in the Crassulaceae family native to rocky hillsides and semi-arid regions of Mexico. It adapts well to bright, dry conditions with minimal fuss and suits anyone starting a houseplant collection.

The plant forms tight, symmetrical rosettes of thick, pointed green leaves edged in vivid red to burgundy, creating that signature lipstick look. Leaves are smooth and waxy with sharply defined tips, and the plant naturally clusters over time, producing offsets that fill out a pot. That bold contrast between the green body and red margins makes this succulent stand out on any shelf or windowsill.

When given a cool nighttime temperature drop in late winter or early spring, it produces tall, arching stems topped with coral to reddish-orange blooms. The flowers appear as a seasonal bonus during the cooler months.

This drought-tolerant succulent handles extended periods without water. You can leave it up to ten days without water. It is pet friendly, posing no toxicity risk to cats or dogs, so you can display it anywhere in your home. Move it outdoors in summer to soak up natural sun, transitioning it gradually to prevent leaf scorch, and keep it covered from heavy rain to avoid root rot. Bring it back indoors before hard frosts arrive.

  •   Echeveria Agavoides Lipstick Succulent grows well in bright indirect light to full sun, ideally near an east or west-facing window.

Water it deeply every 10 to 14 days in summer, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings, then cut back to once every 3 to 4 weeks in winter.

Echeveria Agavoides grows best in a fast-draining cactus and perlite mix, roughly 50/50.

It prefers temperatures of 65 to 80°F and should be protected from frost below 25°F.

Echeveria Agavoides is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from a balanced fertilizer applied once in spring and once in early summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9 through 11, tolerating brief dips no lower than 25°F before needing frost protection. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and the mild coastal areas of Oregon and Washington. Parts of New Mexico, Arkansas, and North Carolina that fall within zone 9 can also support this drought-tolerant succulent outside with minimal winter protection.
  • Q: How often should I water Echeveria agavoides Lipstick Succulent?
A: During the growing season, allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings before adding more. In winter, watering frequency drops significantly as the plant enters dormancy and needs far less moisture.

Q: What kind of light does this plant need indoors?
A: Echeveria agavoides Lipstick Succulent needs a bright spot with several hours of direct or bright indirect light daily. Rotate it weekly so all sides of the rosette develop color evenly.

Q: Is Echeveria Agavoides safe for pets?
A: Yes, it is pet friendly and non-toxic to cats and dogs, so you can display it anywhere without concern.

Q: Can I move this plant outside in summer?
A: Echeveria agavoides loves outdoor sun in summer. Transition it gradually to prevent scorching, and keep it covered or sheltered from heavy rain to prevent root rot.

Q: How big does Lipstick Echeveria get at maturity?
A: The rosette typically reaches 4 to 6 inches across, and the clustering growth habit means it will slowly produce offsets that fill out the pot over time.

Q: What is the easiest way to propagate this succulent?
A: Gently separate offsets from the base of the mother plant and pot them up in fresh cactus mix. Lipstick Echeveria also produces individual leaves that can be propagated, though this method takes longer to reach mature size.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
