  •   Elephant's Foot Adenia Glauca, also called Elephant'S Foot, is a rare caudiciform succulent from the Passifloraceae family native to arid East Africa. It grows in dry rocky soils where water is scarce and intense sun is the norm. This drought-tolerant collector succulent has a devoted following among enthusiasts of architectural and rare plants.

Its pale, silvery-green caudex swells into a rounded, water-storing base, giving the plant its memorable common name. Slender vining stems emerge from this sculptural trunk, bearing small, lobed leaves that contrast against the smooth base. The overall form is deeply architectural.

It produces small flowers on its vining stems, and like many members of the Adenia genus, it is dioecious with male and female flowers appearing on separate plants. Verified bloom details specific to this species are limited, so the plant's structural drama carries its ornamental appeal well beyond any flowering season.

Adenia Glauca does well on a sunny windowsill, a bright patio in summer, or in a curated succulent display. Move it outside during warm months, but shelter it from rain. Keep it away from cats, dogs, and small children, as the plant and its sap can cause irritation. You can leave it up to ten days without water.

  •   Elephant's Foot Adenia Glauca grows well in bright indirect light, partial sun, or direct sun, though it can scorch in intense south-facing windows.

Water it deeply every 10-14 days during the growing season, cutting back in winter dormancy.

Adenia Glauca does best in fast-draining soil made of coarse sand, perlite, and a small amount of potting soil.

It prefers temperatures between 65-95°F and should be protected from frost below 50°F.

Adenia Glauca is a moderate-to-slow grower; feed it lightly with a balanced low-nitrogen fertilizer once monthly during active growth.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10-11, where temperatures rarely drop below 30-35°F. It grows outdoors year-round in frost-free climates like Hawaii, Southern California, South Florida, and the warmest pockets of Arizona and Texas. In Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, coastal Oregon, Nevada, and the broader Gulf Coast, it grows outdoors through the warmer months and needs to move inside before frost arrives.
  • Q: How often should I water Elephant's Foot Adenia Glauca?
A: Every 10-14 days during the growing season. Reduce to once a month or less in winter when the plant is dormant.

Q: Is the plant safe around pets?
A: No. Cats and dogs should not have access to Elephant's Foot Adenia Glauca or its sap, which can cause skin and paw irritation. Keep it on a high shelf or out of reach.

Q: How much light does Adenia Glauca need?
A: It loves bright light and direct sun. Rotate it regularly for even growth, and watch for scorching in very intense south-facing windows.

Q: Why is this plant considered rare?
A: Adenia Glauca is a genuinely rare caudiciform succulent, and finding one for sale is an uncommon occurrence for collectors of unusual architectural succulents.

Q: Can Elephant'S Foot go outside in summer?
A: Yes. Move it to a warm, sunny spot outdoors, but shelter it from rain and bring it back inside before temperatures drop in autumn.

Q: How fast does it grow?
    A: Elephant'S Foot grows at a moderate-to-slow pace.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
