  •   Philodendron 'Orange Marmalade' (Philodendron hybrid) is a rare collector plant bred from tropical Philodendron species native to the rainforests of Central and South America. As a cultivated hybrid, it brings the fast-growing energy of its wild ancestors indoors in a spectacular package.

The leaves are large and heart-shaped with a smooth, almost waxy texture. New foliage emerges in vivid shades of orange and yellow, then matures through lime green before settling into deep, glossy green. Every single leaf cycles through this quad color progression as it unfurls, so there is always something new to watch on this variegated philodendron.

Philodendron Orange Marmalade is grown almost exclusively for its extraordinary leaf coloration rather than its blooms. The leaves cycle through warm citrus tones as they mature, progressing from orange and yellow to lime green and finally deep green.

It actively filters formaldehyde and other indoor toxins while naturally adding humidity to your home. It grows well near kitchen moisture and under office LEDs, making it versatile for modern indoor spaces. Sensitive to being moved around frequently, it prefers a consistent, sheltered spot away from air conditioning vents, heater drafts, and rain exposure. Keep it on a high shelf well out of reach of pets and small children, as the sap can cause skin and paw irritation.

  •   Philodendron 'Orange Marmalade' grows well in bright indirect light and scorches easily in direct south-facing windows.

Water it every 7 to 10 days when the top inch of soil feels dry, easing off watering frequency during winter months.

Philodendron Orange Marmalade grows well in a well-draining mix of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark for excellent aeration.

It prefers temperatures between 65 and 85°F and cannot tolerate frost or temperatures below 50°F.

Philodendron Orange Marmalade is a moderate to fast grower that benefits from balanced liquid fertilizer applied monthly during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10 to 12 and cannot survive frost outdoors. It grows year-round in Florida, Hawaii, southern California, southern Texas, southern Arizona, and Louisiana. It can move outside during warmer months in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Nevada, and coastal Oregon, but must come indoors before temperatures drop below 55°F at night.
  • Q: How often should I water Philodendron 'Orange Marmalade'?
A: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. In summer, this typically means every 7 to 10 days; in winter, extend the interval to every 2 to 3 weeks as growth slows and evaporation decreases.

Q: What causes the orange and yellow colors to fade on new leaves?
A: Insufficient bright indirect light is the most common reason. Philodendron 'Orange Marmalade' needs consistent bright, indirect exposure to maintain vibrant citrus tones in new growth.

Q: Is Philodendron Orange Marmalade safe for pets?
A: No. Cats and dogs should not nibble or eat it, and the sap can cause skin and paw irritation on contact. Keep it on a high shelf well out of reach.

Q: Can it go outside in summer?
A: Philodendron Orange Marmalade can move to a sheltered, shaded spot outdoors during summer but must be protected from direct rain, strong wind, and temperature swings. Bring it inside before nighttime temperatures fall below 55°F.

Q: How do I propagate Philodendron Orange Marmalade?
A: Take stem cuttings just below a node and root them in water or moist sphagnum moss in a warm, humid environment. Rooting typically takes several weeks.

Q: How rare is this plant?
A: Philodendron Orange Marmalade is a genuinely rare hybrid highly sought by collectors for its unique quad color foliage and is not commonly found in regular garden centers.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
