  • Philodendron Melanochrysum, also called Black Gold Philodendron is a rare and captivating plant that hails from the lush landscapes of Colombia. It belongs to the Araceae family, a diverse group of plants known for their striking foliage and unique characteristics.

This plant has long heart-shaped velvety dark green leaves with bright yellow veins. The combination of these colors produces a striking and exotic beauty that can brighten up any space. These leaves can grow up to 24 inches long and 12 inches wide.

This Philodendron is a climber by nature, making it an ideal choice for those who wish to add a touch of greenery to vertical spaces. You can provide a trellis or stake for your Melanochrysum, allowing it to grow and climb with support.

  • Provide bright, indirect light to maintain the plant's rich foliage color. Shield it from direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top inch of the soil feels dry. Adjust watering frequency based on environmental conditions.

Prune to remove any damaged or leggy growth to maintain the plant's shape and aesthetics. As it grows, provide a trellis or other support structure for the vining stems to climb.

Maintain a warm and stable environment. The ideal temperature range is between 65°F to 80°F (18°C to 27°C). This plant loves iigher humidity levels (about 50%), mimicking its natural habitat

Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Stop fertilization in the dormant period during winter.

These plants contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals similar to other plants in the Araceae family and can be toxic if ingested.

  • Provide porous soil with adequate drainage, pots with drainage hole are recommended. Bright, filtered light and ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Never let your succulents sit in water. Do NOT water on the leaves. If you water from beneath by letting the plant sit in a saucer of water, make sure to pour off any excess water after a few minutes. The hotter it is outside, the faster your soil will dry out, so you’ll need to water more often if you live in a hot area. Water with caution in winter, as the plant can lose its roots if the soil stays cold and wet for extended periods; protect from frost to prevent scarring.
