  •   Philodendron 'Florida Ghost' (Philodendron pedatum hybrid) is a rare climbing aroid from the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, where it scales tree trunks in warm, humid conditions. It has earned serious attention worldwide for its extraordinary color-changing foliage and climbing habit.

New leaves emerge ghostly white or pale mint, then gradually shift through cream and yellow before settling into deep green, with each unfurling leaf offering its own color show. The deeply lobed, multi-fingered leaves have a waxy, almost sculptural texture. It grows as a viner that can climb or trail, making it adaptable to different support structures.

Philodendron Florida Ghost is grown almost entirely for its color-changing foliage rather than flowers, which rarely appear on indoor specimens. The plant wilts visibly when dry, signaling water needs before damage occurs. It also filters toxins from indoor air as it grows.

Position it in bright indirect light away from south-facing windows where leaf scorch occurs. Philodendron Florida Ghost does well in high humidity and is especially suited to kitchens and bathrooms where ambient moisture stays naturally elevated. Provide a moss pole or trellis to let it climb and display those lobed leaves at their best. Keep it away from air conditioning vents and heating units, which dry the air quickly. The plant is sensitive to relocation; establish it in a stable spot and move it only when necessary. During summer, move it outside to a warm, sheltered location with indirect light and cover from heavy rain. Keep it well away from pets and children, as the sap causes skin and paw irritation.

  •   Philodendron 'Florida Ghost' grows well in bright indirect light and can scorch in direct south-facing sun exposure.

Water it when the top inch of soil dries out, roughly every 7-10 days during the growing season.

Philodendron Florida Ghost grows well in a chunky, well-draining aroid mix of perlite, orchid bark, and potting soil.

It prefers temperatures between 65-85°F and cannot tolerate frost or freezing conditions at or below 32°F.

Philodendron Florida Ghost is a moderate-to-fast grower during warm months and benefits from balanced liquid fertilizer every 2-4 weeks in spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10-11 where temperatures stay reliably above 30-35°F. It grows outdoors year-round in southern Florida, coastal and southern California, Hawaii, and the southernmost tips of Texas and Arizona. It survives warm months outdoors in Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi, then moves indoors before autumn temperatures drop.
  • Q: What light conditions does Philodendron 'Florida Ghost' need?
A: East or west-facing windows provide bright indirect light. Distance it at least 3-4 feet from south-facing glass, or use sheer curtains to filter intense afternoon rays.

Q: Why are my new leaves pale instead of green?
A: Philodendron 'Florida Ghost' naturally emerges with ghostly white or pale mint foliage that transitions to green over weeks, so the pale color is part of its signature appeal.

Q: Is Philodendron Florida Ghost safe for cats and dogs?
A: Keep it well out of reach on a high shelf, as the sap causes skin and paw irritation and the plant should never be eaten.

Q: How fast does it grow?
A: Philodendron Florida Ghost grows at a moderate-to-fast pace during warm months with adequate light and humidity.

Q: Can Philodendron Florida Ghost handle low humidity?
A: It struggles near air conditioning vents or heating units that dry air quickly; kitchens and bathrooms provide naturally elevated moisture levels.

Q: Can it survive outdoors in winter?
A: Philodendron Florida Ghost cannot tolerate frost and requires temperatures above 30-35°F year-round, so it moves indoors before autumn cooling in all but the warmest US zones.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
