  •   Echeveria 'Blue Sky' is a rosette succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to the semi-arid highlands of Mexico and Central America. Its drought tolerance stems from its natural habitat, where dry conditions shaped every aspect of its growth. It grows as a compact rosette and clusters over time.

The leaves are plump and spoon-shaped, arranged in tight, symmetrical rosettes with a soft powdery blue-green color. A natural waxy coating called farina gives each leaf a dusty finish. In bright sun, the leaf tips blush pink or red. As it matures, 'Blue Sky' produces offsets at the base, filling a pot with layered rosettes that reach 4 to 6 inches across.

When exposed to cooler nighttime temperatures in late winter or early spring, it sends up tall arching bloom stalks bearing small bell-shaped flowers in warm coral or pink tones. Blooming is tied directly to that temperature drop, so moving it near a cooler window in winter can trigger flowering. Fragrance is minimal.

Move it to a sunny windowsill, bright patio spot, or dish garden with other drought-tolerant companions. Rotate the pot regularly so every side of the rosette gets even light and stays symmetrical. Cover it from rain outdoors, since excess moisture invites rot. It is pet-friendly and non-toxic to cats and dogs.

  •   Echeveria 'Blue Sky' grows well in bright indirect light, partial sun, or full sun near an east or west-facing window.

Water it thoroughly every 10 to 14 days during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings; reduce to once every 3 to 4 weeks in winter.

'Blue Sky' does best in a fast-draining cactus and succulent mix amended with extra perlite for improved drainage.

It prefers temperatures between 60 and 80°F and should be protected from frost below 25°F.

'Blue Sky' is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from a balanced succulent fertilizer applied once monthly during the active growing season.

It is hardy in USDA Zones 9 through 11, tolerating brief dips but not sustained frost below 25°F. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi, and performs well along the mild Oregon coast and in sheltered spots of New Mexico where Zone 9 conditions apply.
  • Q: How often should I water Echeveria 'Blue Sky'?
A: Water thoroughly every 10-14 days in summer, letting soil dry completely between waterings. Reduce to once every 3-4 weeks in winter. The leaves soften slightly when water is needed.

    Q: Is it pet-safe?
A: Echeveria 'Blue Sky' is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: How much light does 'Blue Sky' need?
A: Place it on a south or east-facing windowsill for the strongest blue-green color and pink-red leaf tips. It grows in partial sun too, though it may not color as intensely in lower light.

Q: How big does it get?
A: 'Blue Sky' forms individual rosettes 4 to 6 inches across and spreads wider as offsets cluster around the base over time.

Q: Can 'Blue Sky' go outside in summer?
A: Yes. Move it to a bright, sheltered spot outdoors and bring it under an overhang or indoors during heavy rain to prevent rot.

Q: How do I propagate it?
A: Separate a pup or offset from the base, let it callous for a day or two, pot it in dry succulent soil, and water after about a week.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
