  •   Peperomia Ripple Green (Peperomia caperata) is a compact tropical houseplant in the Piperaceae family, native to the rainforests of Brazil. It grows naturally on the forest floor beneath a dense canopy, where light is filtered and humidity is steady.

The leaves are small and heart-shaped, with a deeply corrugated surface that runs in tight parallel ridges from stem to tip. The top of each leaf is dark green with a slightly puckered texture, while the undersides are paler and smooth. Plants form a low, dense rosette of overlapping leaves and stay compact in most indoor settings.

Ripple Peperomia occasionally produces slender, upright flower spikes with tiny cream-colored blooms, though the plant is grown primarily for its textured foliage rather than its flowers. It purifies indoor air and filters formaldehyde and other toxins from its environment. This plant is pet friendly, so it can sit freely on shelves, desks, or floors in homes with cats and dogs.

Rotate it every few weeks so all sides receive even light exposure. Ripple Peperomia fits well inside a terrarium, where the enclosed environment holds moisture around the leaves. It also does well near a kitchen, where ambient moisture from cooking keeps the air around it slightly humid. Keep it away from air conditioning vents and heating units, as direct blasts of conditioned or heated air stress the leaves, though it does tolerate the general dryness of a heated room. Avoid placing it where rain can reach it, and limit how often you move it to a new spot, as it responds poorly to frequent repositioning. You can leave it up to ten days without water.

  •   Peperomia Ripple Green grows well in bright indirect light and handles the output of standard office LED fixtures without trouble. Keep it back from south-facing windows, where direct sun scorches the leaves.

Water it every 10 to 14 days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between sessions. It wilts slightly when the soil has been dry too long.

Ripple Peperomia does best in a well-draining mix of peat or coco coir blended with perlite. A mix formulated for succulents or aroids also works well, as long as it does not hold standing moisture.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and should not be exposed to anything below 50°F. Keep it away from cold drafts near windows and doors in winter.

Ripple Peperomia is a slow-growing plant that rarely needs repotting more than once every two to three years. Feed it with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength once a month during spring and summer only.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10 to 12, where outdoor temperatures stay reliably above 50°F through the year. It grows outdoors in Hawaii, southern Florida, and coastal Southern California. It overwinters outdoors in parts of Texas and Arizona only in the warmest, most frost-free pockets of those zones.
  • Q: Where should I place Peperomia Ripple Green in my home?
A: Bright indirect light works best. An east- or north-facing windowsill, or a spot a few feet back from a west-facing window, keeps it out of direct sun that can burn the leaves.

Q: How do I know if I am overwatering it?
A: Peperomia Ripple Green stores water in its thick leaves, so the soil should feel dry an inch down before you water again. Overwatering leads to soft, mushy stems at the base and yellowing lower leaves.

Q: Is Ripple Peperomia safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic to cats and dogs and can be placed anywhere in a pet-friendly home without concern.

Q: How big does this plant get indoors?
A: Ripple Peperomia stays compact, typically reaching 6 to 8 inches in height and spread. It rarely outgrows a 4- or 6-inch pot indoors.

Q: Can Ripple Peperomia survive while I am away on a trip?
A: It handles up to ten days without water without leaf drop or visible stress, as long as the soil was not already dry when you left.

Q: How do I propagate this plant?
A: Ripple Peperomia roots easily from leaf cuttings. Remove a healthy leaf with its stem, let the cut end dry for a few hours, then press it into moist perlite or potting mix. Roots typically appear within three to four weeks at room temperature.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
