'Macho' has densely packed, fleshy leaves with a blue-green to forest green color, often dusted with a silvery-white powdery coating known as farina. The leaves are plump and rounded, arranged in perfect rosette formations that rarely exceed 4 inches across. As it matures, the foliage develops reddish tones in strong light.
'Macho' produces star-shaped flowers that appear in spring, typically in shades of pale pink or white. The blooms emerge on tall inflorescences above the foliage and last several weeks during the growing season. It is pet-friendly, safe for cats and dogs if nibbled.
Move it outside for summer to encourage stronger growth, or keep it indoors year-round in a bright location. It tolerates dry heated air and can stay outdoors in autumn before bringing indoors as temperatures drop. Rotate it regularly for even growth and consistent rosette shape. You can leave it up to ten days without water. Propagate 'Macho' easily from individual leaves or offsets; remove a leaf, let it dry for a few days, then place it in dry succulent soil without watering until roots establish.
Pachyphytum 'Macho' grows well in direct sun to medium light, with at least 4 to 6 hours of bright light daily for optimal color development.
