The leaves are plump, spatula-shaped, and covered in a fine white powdery coating that protects them from intense sun. Colors range from dusty blue-green to soft gray-blue, deepening toward burgundy or rose at the leaf tips depending on light intensity and temperature. Each rosette stays compact, rarely exceeding 3 to 4 inches across, and offsets cluster tightly around the parent plant to create a full form.
It produces small, pale pink or cream-colored flowers on thin stems during late spring and summer. The blooms arise from the base of the rosette in loose clusters. The plant tolerates dry heated air indoors and adapts to both direct sun and low-light conditions, though leaf color deepens with brighter light.
Move it outside in summer and it adjusts well to outdoor conditions. The plant needs protection from rain when placed outside and can remain unwatered for extended periods if the soil is dry at departure. You can leave it up to ten days without water. Propagation is straightforward from leaf cuttings or offsets. It is pet friendly and best placed away from small children. It works well in shallow containers, succulent collections, or as a tabletop accent with bohemian or geometric appeal.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9b through 11, surviving winters outdoors where temperatures stay above 35°F. It grows outdoors year-round in southern California, Arizona, southern Texas, and Hawaii; in cooler zones, it can spend autumn outside but must move indoors before the first frost.
