    •   Chick Charms Giant Copper Canyon, also called Hens And Chicks, is a hardy succulent from the Sempervivum genus native to high-altitude regions of the Copper Canyon in Mexico. This evergreen perennial forms dense rosettes of fleshy leaves and is grown by rock garden enthusiasts and container growers for its cold tolerance and low-maintenance growth.

The leaves are arranged in tight rosettes and shift from forest green to vivid copper-red tones, particularly in full sun or cooler temperatures. Each rosette grows compact and architectural, with slightly pointed leaves that can reach 2 to 3 inches across the entire formation. It produces offsets around the base, gradually building a clustering mound over time.

During summer, it sends up flowering spikes with small yellow or pale pink blooms that appear in dense clusters. The flowers are brief but signal the plant's maturity, and after blooming, the parent rosette naturally fades while offsets continue to establish and grow well.

Move it outside for summer to encourage deeper color and growth, and it handles balcony wind and rain without issue. It can stay outdoors in autumn as temperatures drop, and with proper drainage, it survives frost down to 10°F or colder depending on the hardiness zone. You can leave it up to ten days without water. Propagate new plants by removing offset rosettes and allowing them to dry for a few days before planting in dry soil. This plant is pet friendly. It produces pollen, so those with allergies should position it away from high-traffic indoor areas.

    •   Chick Charms Giant Copper Canyon grows in direct sun and adapts to low-light indoor spaces, though leaf color deepens with more light exposure.

Water it every 10 to 14 days during spring and summer growth, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. In fall and winter, extend intervals as growth slows and water needs decrease.

'Chick Charms Giant Copper Canyon' does best in fast-draining cactus or succulent soil mix, or amend regular potting soil with perlite or coarse sand.

It prefers temperatures between 50°F and 80°F and tolerates dry heated air indoors without stress or leaf drop.

'Chick Charms Giant Copper Canyon' is a slow to moderate grower that needs no fertilizer; basic compost or diluted cactus fertilizer applied once in spring is optional.

It is hardy in USDA zones 3 through 11 and survives winter frost below 10°F in northern climates. It grows outdoors year-round in Colorado, Utah, Montana, and other high-altitude western states, and in zone 9 regions including parts of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. In zone 8 areas such as northern Georgia and parts of the Midwest, it requires winter protection or container growing to move indoors during hard freezes.

    • Q: How often should I water Chick Charms Giant Copper Canyon?
A: During spring and summer growth, check the soil every 10 to 14 days and water only when completely dry. In fall and winter, reduce frequency as the plant's water needs decrease with slower growth.

Q: Will this plant work in a low-light indoor space?
A: Chick Charms Giant Copper Canyon adapts to both bright direct sun and low-light conditions, though the copper-red tones deepen with increased light exposure.

Q: Can I propagate 'Chick Charms Giant Copper Canyon' easily?
A: Yes. Remove the offset rosettes that form around the base, let them air-dry for a few days, then plant them in dry succulent soil.

Q: Is this plant frost tolerant?
A: 'Chick Charms Giant Copper Canyon' survives sustained frost below 10°F in zone 3 and remains hardy across most continental U.S. climates with proper drainage.

Q: Is Hens And Chicks safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, this plant is non-toxic to cats, dogs, and other common household pets.

Q: Will Hens And Chicks need water during a short trip?
A: No. Leave the soil dry before departure; the thick leaves store enough moisture to sustain the plant for 10 days or longer.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
