  •   Echeveria 'Lilac Spoon' is a compact rosette-forming succulent in the Crassulaceae family, native to the semi-arid regions of Mexico. It is a rare hybrid cultivar grown for its distinctively shaped leaves and soft pastel tones.

The leaves are thick and elongated with a deep, concave spoon-like curve and gently upturned tips, arranged in a tight, symmetrical rosette. 'Lilac Spoon' holds a soft lavender-pink to dusty rose tone across the leaf surface, deepening toward the margins in stronger light. A fine powdery coating, called farina, covers each leaf and gives the rosette a matte, frosted look.

'Lilac Spoon' produces slender arching stems with small bell-shaped flowers in coral to orange tones, typically in late spring to summer. It needs a drop in nighttime temperatures to trigger blooming. Flowering tends to occur once per year when the plant receives adequate light and the seasonal temperature shift it requires.

This plant is pet friendly. You can leave it up to ten days without water, and it tolerates the dry heated air common in most homes. Rotate it every few weeks so each side receives even light exposure. 'Lilac Spoon' is a sought-after piece in compact succulent collections, and its rarity means it is not commonly found in garden centers. Move it outside for summer, but cover it from rain to protect the farina and prevent root rot.

  •   Echeveria 'Lilac Spoon' grows well in bright indirect light and can handle some direct morning sun. Avoid intense afternoon sun through south-facing windows, as the leaves can scorch.

Water it every 10 to 14 days during the growing season, letting the soil dry out completely between waterings. It wilts slightly when dry. Reduce watering to once a month in winter.

'Lilac Spoon' does best in a fast-draining cactus or succulent mix blended with perlite at a ratio of roughly 50/50. Good drainage prevents root rot.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 80°F indoors. Keep it away from air conditioning vents and heating units, as direct airflow from either stresses the plant.

'Lilac Spoon' is a slow-growing compact succulent that stays small over several years. Feed it with a diluted balanced fertilizer at half strength once a month during spring and summer only.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9b through 11, tolerating minimum temperatures down to around 25°F to 30°F. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and Hawaii. It can also stay outside through autumn in sheltered spots within those zones before temperatures drop too low.
  • Q: How much light does Echeveria 'Lilac Spoon' need?
A: An east or west-facing window works well. A south-facing window can cause scorching during peak afternoon hours, so diffuse the light with a sheer curtain or move it a foot or two back from the glass.

Q: How do I know when it needs water?
A: Echeveria 'Lilac Spoon' wilts slightly and the leaves feel softer than usual when the soil has been dry too long. Check the soil before watering rather than following a fixed schedule in winter.

Q: Is 'Lilac Spoon' safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: How big does this succulent get?
A: 'Lilac Spoon' stays compact, typically reaching 3 to 5 inches in diameter at maturity. Growth is slow, so it holds its size well in small pots for years.

Q: Can 'Lilac Spoon' go outside in summer?
A: Yes, move it outdoors to a spot with bright light and shelter from rain. The farina on the leaves washes off easily and the roots are vulnerable to waterlogging from repeated rainfall.

    Q: Why isn't it blooming?
A: 'Lilac Spoon' needs a drop in nighttime temperatures, typically into the 50s°F, to trigger its bloom cycle. Moving it near a cooler window in late winter or early spring often helps initiate flowering.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
