  • Hoya Macrophylla is a unique species in the Hoya genus. It has relatively larger foliage when compared to other Hoya plants, with Macrophylla meaning "having large leaves". Macrophylla features textured waxy leaves in dark green with distinctive protruding green veins.

This Hoya's vines can reach up to 8 feet in length if grown indoors and 12 feet long when planted outdoors. This easy-care vining plant looks lovely trailing from a high shelf or hanging basket. Each leaf can grow up to 6 inches.

Hoya Macrophylla produces clusters of fragrant star-shaped flowers that last for about one week. The flowers are white with red and pink shades in the middle.

  • Hoya Macrophylla loves bright indirect sunlight. An ideal spot for this plant is a well-lit room with plenty of filtered light or a partially shaded place in the garden where it can receive lots of dappled sunlight. Avoid harsh direct sunlight.

This plant is slightly drought-tolerant. It needs watering about once every 1-2 weeks or when the soil is almost dry. Reduce watering in the winter. Use the soak and dry method and make sure you drain all excess water to avoid root rot.

Hoya loves light, porous, well-draining soils. Proper drainage is crucial for this plant, so you should choose a pot with at least one drainage hole. You can mix some perlite with houseplant potting soil to increase drainage and aeration.

Hoya thrives in temperatures of 60°F-80°F. It is vital to ensure the room temperature does not fall below 55°F. This plant prefers medium to high humidity to dry air, so it is recommended that you use a mister, pebble trays, or humidifiers on hot dry days.

Hoya should be fertilized during the growing season (spring/summer)with diluted houseplant fertilizer once a month.

  • Provide porous soil with adequate drainage, pots with drainage hole are recommended. Bright, filtered light and ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Never let your succulents sit in water. Do NOT water on the leaves. If you water from beneath by letting the plant sit in a saucer of water, make sure to pour off any excess water after a few minutes. The hotter it is outside, the faster your soil will dry out, so you’ll need to water more often if you live in a hot area. Water with caution in winter, as the plant can lose its roots if the soil stays cold and wet for extended periods; protect from frost to prevent scarring.
