  • Alocasia Polly, also known as African Mask Plant or Elephant Ear is an exotic indoor plant that comes from the lush rainforests of Southeast Asia. Over time, it has gained popularity as a unique addition to home decor. This plant has distinctively arrow-shaped leaves characterized by rich green shades and striking white or silver veins, making it an eye-catching and distinctive addition to your indoor space.

Alocasia Polly is an extraordinary plant, boasting some of the most captivating, eye-pleasing foliage you'll find among houseplants. With its remarkable leaves, it really is a show-stopping focal point in any living space.

Alocasia Polly is usually mistaken for Alocasia Bambino. However, Alocasia Polly typically features heart-shaped, glossy leaves with scalloped edges, giving them an elegant and almost polished appearance. In contrast, Alocasia Bambino's leaves have a more matte and smooth texture, with a pronounced arrowhead shape. Alocasia Bambino is also more tolerant of low light conditions than Alocasia Polly.

  • Alocasia Polly prefers bright, indirect sunlight. Avoid placing your plant in direct sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves. If you do not have a bright spot in your home, you can supplement the natural light with a grow light.

Alocasia Polly likes moist soil, but be careful not to overwater. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

Alocasia Polly thrives in a well-draining potting mix that allows excess water to escape and prevents waterlogged roots. A mix that combines regular potting soil with perlite or orchid bark works exceptionally well to maintain proper moisture levels and prevent root rot.

This plant loves warm and humid environments, and it thrives well in most indoor settings with temperatures between 65-75°F. Alocasia Polly prefers high humidity (above 50%). You can increase the humidity around your plant by misting it regularly or placing it on a pebble tray.

Fertilize your Alocasia Polly every two weeks during the growing season with a balanced fertilizer. Reduce fertilization to once a month during the winter months.

Alocasia Polly contains oxalates, which are toxic to humans and pets if ingested. It's essential to keep this plant out of reach of children and animals to avoid any potential health risks.

  • Provide porous soil with adequate drainage, pots with drainage hole are recommended. Bright, filtered light and ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Never let your succulents sit in water. Do NOT water on the leaves. If you water from beneath by letting the plant sit in a saucer of water, make sure to pour off any excess water after a few minutes. The hotter it is outside, the faster your soil will dry out, so you’ll need to water more often if you live in a hot area. Water with caution in winter, as the plant can lose its roots if the soil stays cold and wet for extended periods; protect from frost to prevent scarring.
