The leaves are narrow, sword-shaped, and colored in silvery-green with subtle darker green cross-banding that becomes visible in strong light. 'Moonshine' forms an upright rosette and reaches moderate heights indoors, with a waxy texture on the foliage and a geometric form. New growth emerges from the soil level, creating a dense, columnar shape over time.
'Moonshine' produces small, pale yellow flowers that emerge from the base of the plant during spring and summer, releasing a light fragrance at night. It filters formaldehyde and other toxins from indoor air and releases oxygen at night. It tolerates dry heated air without decline and can be left up to ten days without water.
You can propagate 'Moonshine' from individual leaves or rhizome cuttings pressed into soil. The plant works equally well as a mature specimen accent piece or a beginner's starter plant, growing slowly over seasons into a long-lived houseplant. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
