  •   Peperomia Rosso (Peperomia caperata 'Rosso'), also called radiator plant, is a compact tropical houseplant in the Piperaceae family. It originates from the rainforests of South America, where it grows as a low-growing understory plant in warm, humid conditions.

The leaves are small, deeply ridged, and heart-shaped, with dark green tops and burgundy-red undersides. They grow in a dense rosette pattern, with each leaf surface textured by deep grooves that run along the veins. New growth often appears in a deeper red tone before settling into the dark green and red contrast seen on mature leaves.

Rosso Peperomia produces thin, upright flower spikes in cream to pale green, typically in late spring through summer. The blooms are small and unscented. It also filters formaldehyde and other indoor toxins from the air, and this plant is pet friendly.

Rotate Rosso Peperomia every few weeks to keep growth even on all sides. It grows well under standard office LED lighting and handles dry, heated indoor air without issue. Keep it away from air conditioning and heating vents, and place it near a kitchen where ambient moisture levels tend to stay higher. It fits well inside a terrarium and survives up to ten days without watering. During rainy periods outdoors in autumn, move it under cover to protect it from excess moisture.

  •   Peperomia Rosso grows well in bright indirect light, such as a north- or east-facing window a few feet from the glass. Avoid south-facing windows, where direct sun scorches the leaves.

Water it every 10-14 days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. It wilts slightly when dry.

Rosso Peperomia does best in a well-draining mix of peat or coco coir blended with perlite. Good drainage prevents root rot, which is the most common issue with overwatering.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and stays healthiest away from cold drafts, AC vents, and heating units.

Rosso Peperomia is a slow to moderate grower, reaching around 6-8 inches in height and spread. Feed it with a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during spring and summer only.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10-12, where temperatures stay reliably above 30°F year-round. It grows outdoors in Florida, Hawaii, southern California, southern Texas, and Louisiana. In cooler states, it grows year-round as an indoor plant.
  • Q: Is Peperomia Rosso safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes. It is non-toxic and safe for both cats and dogs.

Q: How do I know if it needs more light?
A: Peperomia Rosso can handle a spot a few feet from an east- or north-facing window. If the stems stretch long and leggy, it needs to move closer to a light source. If the leaf edges turn pale or crisp, it is getting too much direct sun.

Q: Can Rosso Peperomia grow in a terrarium?
A: Yes. Its compact size and preference for humidity make it a good fit for open or lightly enclosed terrariums.

Q: How do I know when to water it?
A: Rosso Peperomia wilts slightly when the soil has dried out enough to need water. You can also press a finger an inch into the soil — if it still feels damp, wait a few more days.

Q: Can Rosso Peperomia survive while I travel?
A: You can leave it up to ten days without watering before the plant shows stress.

Q: What happens if I overwater it?
A: Rosso Peperomia stores water in its thick leaves and stems, so too much water too often leads to soft, mushy stems and root rot. Let the soil dry partially between waterings to avoid this.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
