The Peperomia 'Green Bean' (Peperomia ferreyrae) is a whimsical, semi-succulent houseplant known for its unique, lime-green, pod-like leaves that resemble tiny green beans. It is sometimes also called the Pincushion Peperomia due to the shape of its foliage.
It is native to the rainforests of Peru, where it grows as an epiphyte or terrestrial plant, often in bright, sheltered locations.
The 'Green Bean' is instantly recognizable by its fleshy, tubular, and channeled leaves that are bright green with a small, darker "window" (epidermal window) on the top surface. This window allows light deep into the leaf tissue for efficient photosynthesis.

Place near a bright window (east or west is ideal). It can tolerate medium light but will grow leggy. Avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the fleshy leaves.
As a semi-succulent, it stores water in its leaves. Allow the soil to dry out almost completely between waterings.
Use a mix formulated for succulents or cacti, or amend a standard potting mix with plenty of perlite, sand, or orchid bark to ensure sharp drainage.
This plant thrives in warm, indoor environments between of 65 °F- 80 °F.
