  •   Peperomia 'Frost' (Peperomia caperata 'Frost') is a compact tropical houseplant in the Piperaceae family, native to the rainforest floors of South America. It grows naturally under dense canopy cover, where light is filtered and humidity stays steady.

The leaves are small, heart-shaped, and heavily ridged with a deeply corrugated texture. Each leaf is covered in a silvery coating that gives the surface a frosted, metallic appearance over a dark green base. The plant grows in a low, mounding rosette form and stays compact, rarely exceeding eight inches in height or spread.

Frost Peperomia occasionally produces thin, upright flower spikes called rat-tail inflorescences, pale and inconspicuous, that rise above the foliage. It purifies indoor air and filters formaldehyde and other toxins from the surrounding environment. This plant is pet friendly, with no toxic compounds reported for cats or dogs.

Place it near a kitchen window, where ambient moisture from cooking supports steady growth. It grows well under standard office LED lighting and handles the dry air from heated rooms without leaf drop. You can move it outside for summer, though it needs cover from rain to prevent waterlogged soil and leaf damage. Rotate the pot every few weeks so all sides receive even light exposure, and keep it away from direct airflow from air conditioning or heating vents.

  •   Peperomia 'Frost' thrives in bright indirect light, such as an east- or north-facing window.

Water it every 10 to 14 days, letting the top inch of soil dry out between waterings.

Frost Peperomia does best in a well-draining mix of perlite and potting soil in equal parts.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and struggles below 50°F.

Frost Peperomia is a slow grower; feed it with a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month in spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10 to 12, where temperatures stay above 30°F year-round. It grows outdoors in Florida, Hawaii, southern California, and southern Texas. It can also spend summers outside in zones 9 and below, brought back indoors before the first frost.
  • Q: How much light does Peperomia 'Frost' need?
A: Keep it a few feet back from a south-facing window, as direct sun scorches the leaves. An east- or north-facing windowsill works well.

Q: How do I know when to water it?
A: Peperomia 'Frost' wilts slightly when it needs water, and the soil will feel dry an inch down. Overwatering causes stem rot at the base, so err on the dry side.

Q: Is Frost Peperomia safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and pet friendly for both cats and dogs.

Q: How big does it get?
A: Frost Peperomia stays compact, typically reaching around six to eight inches tall and wide at maturity.

Q: Can Frost Peperomia survive while I travel?
A: You can leave it up to ten days without watering and it will be fine.

Q: Can I propagate it from cuttings?
A: Frost Peperomia propagates readily from leaf or stem cuttings placed in moist soil or water, rooting within a few weeks.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
