Aeschynanthus radicans has glossy, waxy leaves arranged along long, cascading stems that stretch downward in a trailing habit. The foliage is forest green and relatively compact, allowing the plant to spread widely without becoming overly dense or overwhelming a space.
The flowers are the standout feature, emerging in early spring and throughout the growing season as tubular reddish-orange blooms that unfold from dark buds. This resemblance to a tube of lipstick is where the plant gets its common name. Blooms appear frequently when conditions are right, contrasting against the dark green leaves.
Aeschynanthus radicans grows at a moderate to fast pace in warm, humid conditions and grows well near kitchen moisture or bathroom steam without needing a humidifier. It grows well under office LED lights in low-light areas and can be moved outside for summer. Rotate it occasionally for even growth, and keep it away from direct drafts from air conditioning or heating vents. This plant is pet-friendly and safe for cats and dogs. Propagation is simple from stem cuttings placed in moist soil or water.

You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
