  •   Hoya Lisa (Hoya australis 'Lisa') is a rare variegated wax plant in the Apocynaceae family native to Australia and parts of Southeast Asia. In its natural habitat, it climbs and trails through warm, humid forests.

The plant's thick, waxy leaves are splashed with creamy yellow and green variegation, sometimes flushed with soft pink when grown in bright light. Trailing vines can reach several feet long, making it an excellent choice for hanging baskets or high shelves.

It produces clusters of small, star-shaped white flowers with a sweet, honey-like fragrance on mature plants, typically triggered by a slight drop in nighttime temperatures. The plant is sensitive to being moved, so leaving it in one spot encourages blooming over time.

Leave it undisturbed in a bright window and it grows well with minimal fuss. It gently wilts when thirsty and bounces back quickly after watering, so there's no guesswork involved. You can leave it up to ten days without water. The plant is pet-friendly, though the sap can cause mild skin or paw irritation, so keep it on a high shelf out of reach of toddlers and curious animals.

  •   Hoya Lisa grows well in bright indirect light and adapts well to medium light or office LED conditions, but avoid direct sun that scorches the leaves.

Water it thoroughly every 10 to 14 days in summer and every 3 to 4 weeks in winter, always letting soil dry out between waterings.

Hoya Lisa does best in a well-draining mix of perlite, orchid bark, and standard potting soil to prevent root rot.

It prefers temperatures between 60 and 85°F and should be kept away from cold drafts, air conditioning vents, and heating units.

Hoya Lisa is a moderate grower that benefits from a balanced liquid fertilizer applied monthly during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10 to 12, where temperatures stay above 35°F year-round. It grows outdoors in warm, frost-free states including Florida, Hawaii, southern California, and coastal areas of Texas, Arizona, Louisiana, and Mississippi. In zone 9 areas such as Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Nevada, and the Oregon coast, it can grow outside in sheltered spots if brought indoors before any frost threat.
  • Q: How often should I water Hoya Lisa?
A: Every 10 to 14 days in warm months, then cut back to every 3 to 4 weeks in winter. The leaves will wilt slightly when moisture is depleted.

Q: Can this plant tolerate low light?
A: Hoya Lisa adapts to medium light and grows under office LEDs. Flowering is more consistent in bright indirect conditions away from direct sun, as the plant needs adequate energy reserves to produce blooms.

Q: Does Hoya Lisa need high humidity?
A: It tolerates average indoor humidity. Misting or placing it on a pebble tray will increase moisture in the air around the foliage.

Q: How do I encourage blooming on this plant?
A: Hoya Lisa blooms best when left undisturbed in one spot and exposed to a slight temperature drop at night, which typically occurs naturally in cooler seasons.

Q: Can Hoya Lisa go outside in summer?
A: Move it to a shady outdoor spot in summer for fresh air and natural humidity. Protect it from rain and strong direct sun, then bring it back indoors before fall.

Q: Is this plant safe for cats and dogs?
A: Hoya Lisa is pet-friendly, though the sap can cause mild skin or paw irritation on contact. Keep it out of reach of curious pets and small children.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
