The Calathea 'Musaica', often referred to as the Network Plant due to its incredible foliage, is a highly sought-after houseplant.
The plant's standout feature is its stunning foliage. Each light green, glossy leaf is crisscrossed by a dense network of fine, dark green lines, creating a mesmerizing, grid-like mosaic pattern that truly earns its common name. As a member of the Marantaceae family (the Prayer Plants), the 'Musaica' exhibits nyctinastic movement. Its leaves will subtly lift and fold upwards at night, and then spread back out during the day to maximize light absorption.
This plant is generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it a safe choice for pet owners.

Mimic its rainforest floor habitat with dappled or filtered light. Avoid direct sunlight, which will scorch the leaves and cause the unique mosaic pattern to fade. It can tolerate medium light, but the pattern may be less vibrant.
Keep the soil consistently moist, but never soggy. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch.
Use a rich, loose, peat-based potting mix amended with elements like perlite or orchid bark to ensure excellent drainage while retaining moisture.
The plant prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F (18°C - 27°C). It is sensitive to cold drafts and temperatures below 60°F (15°C) can cause damage.
