    •   Bromeliad Medusa is a tropical neoregelia bromeliad native to Central and South America. It grows as a rosette of long, narrow leaves with variegated forest green and white markings, creating a form that stands out in any indoor collection. The plant forms a central tank, a characteristic water-holding structure common to bromeliads, and belongs to the family Bromeliaceae.

'Medusa' has elongated, strap-like leaves that radiate from a central point in a dense rosette formation. The foliage features variegated forest green and white striping along each blade, with some leaves showing red or burgundy tones near the base and center. The leaves are moderately textured with a slight curve, and the overall plant width can range from a narrow grower to a wide spreader depending on growing conditions. The rosette remains relatively compact in appearance.

Bromeliad flowers emerge in the central tank as small, typically red or orange-tinted bracts. Blooms appear seasonally when the plant reaches maturity, usually in spring or early summer, and the inflorescence may persist for several weeks. 'Medusa' also naturally humidifies the air around it as moisture evaporates from the tank structure and leaf surfaces.

'Medusa' grows well near kitchen windows and humid spaces where it can stay near moisture without direct watering of the leaves. Move it outside in autumn when temperatures remain warm, or move it outside for summer if kept indoors the rest of the year; it handles balcony wind and rain without damage. Rotate the plant regularly for even growth, as it tends to reach toward light sources. This plant is pet-friendly, and it purifies indoor air while adding a tropical accent to terrariums or floor displays. 'Medusa' survives up to ten days without water. It grows under office LED lighting but scorches in direct south window sun, so position it where bright indirect light reaches the leaves without harsh afternoon rays.

    •   Bromeliad Medusa grows well in bright indirect light and can adapt to medium light conditions near east or west windows; keep it away from direct south-facing sun as the leaves will scorch.

Water it every 10-14 days during active growth, filling the central tank with fresh water and allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings; reduce watering frequency in fall and winter.

'Medusa' does best in well-draining bromeliad or orchid mix, or a blend of peat moss, bark, and perlite to prevent root rot while retaining slight moisture.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 75°F and is sensitive to cold drafts from air conditioning or heating vents; avoid placement near direct AC or heater output.

'Medusa' is a slow to moderate grower that benefits from a balanced bromeliad or diluted orchid fertilizer applied monthly during spring and summer; reduce feeding in fall and winter.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10-11 and tolerates temperatures as low as 50°F with protection; it survives light frost near 32°F but prolonged exposure below 40°F will damage the foliage and requires bringing indoors or moving to a sheltered location. It grows outdoors year-round in coastal California, southern Florida, Hawaii, parts of southern Texas, and other warm tropical and subtropical regions within these zones.

    • Q: How often should I water Bromeliad Medusa?
A: Every 10-14 days during the growing season, filling the central tank with fresh water and letting the soil dry slightly between waterings. Reduce frequency in fall and winter as growth slows.

Q: Will this plant tolerate low light indoors?
A: Bromeliad Medusa adapts to medium light but will grow slower and produce less vivid foliage coloration; it needs bright indirect light to see the full variegation and red tones on the leaves.

Q: Is 'Medusa' safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, this plant is pet-friendly and non-toxic to cats, dogs, and other pets.

Q: How fast does it grow?
A: 'Medusa' is a slow to moderate grower that can take 1-2 years to reach mature size; growth speeds up slightly with regular feeding during the warm season.

Q: Can 'Medusa' survive a trip away from home?
A: The central tank retains moisture over several days, and the soil may retain enough water to sustain the plant for extended periods if watered before departure.

Q: What causes leaves to turn yellow or brown?
A: Yellowing typically indicates overwatering or poor drainage, while brown leaf edges indicate low humidity or sensitivity to air from heating and cooling vents; increase humidity by misting, moving the plant away from direct AC or heater output, or placing it on a pebble tray with water.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
