  •   Haworthia viscosa is a distinctive succulent from the Asphodelaceae family, native to the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It grows naturally among rocky outcrops and semi-arid landscapes, making it well-adapted for drought-tolerant indoor growing.

The leaves are thick and triangular, arranged in distinctive three-ranked spirals that create an unmistakable geometric pattern. Dark green foliage stacks in neat columns as it develops its characteristic upright, clustering growth habit, with each leaf featuring raised white spots and translucent windows that catch and filter light. The slightly tacky texture of its leaves earned Haworthia Viscosa the common name "sticky haworthia."

Small white tubular flowers appear on slender stems during spring and summer months, though indoor specimens may need a slight nighttime temperature drop to encourage blooming. It filters formaldehyde and releases oxygen at night while growing well in office environments under LED lighting.

Haworthia Viscosa works as a desk plant and bedroom plant, tolerating dry heated air while clustering into displays perfect for terrariums or desktop collections. It survives extended absences. You can leave it up to ten days without water. The plant is cat friendly and safe around pets, and it can be propagated by carefully separating offset clusters from the mother plant during repotting and allowing cut surfaces to callus for 24-48 hours before planting in dry soil.

  •   Haworthia viscosa grows well in bright indirect light or low light conditions, growing successfully under office LEDs while scorching in direct south windows.

Water it deeply but infrequently, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings every 2-3 weeks during the growing season.

Haworthia Viscosa does best in well-draining succulent soil mix with added perlite or pumice for optimal root health.

It prefers temperatures from 50-85°F but cannot survive frost below 32°F.

Haworthia Viscosa is a slow-growing succulent that rarely needs fertilization, requiring only diluted succulent fertilizer 2-3 times during the growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11. It grows outdoors year-round in southern Florida, southern California, southern Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, Louisiana, southern Georgia, coastal South Carolina, southern Nevada, and parts of coastal Oregon and Washington. It also grows in protected microclimates throughout Alabama, Mississippi, and southern North Carolina within these warmer zones, tolerating brief exposure to 32°F but requiring frost protection below that temperature.
  • Q: Is Haworthia viscosa safe for pets and children?
A: It is completely non-toxic and safe around cats, dogs, and children.

Q: How fast does the plant grow and reach maturity?
A: Haworthia viscosa grows slowly, developing clustering offsets gradually over several years and typically reaching 4-6 inches tall and wide at maturity.

Q: What window placement works best for Haworthia Viscosa indoors?
A: East or west-facing windows provide bright indirect light; a north-facing window works several feet back from the glass. Direct south-facing sun can scorch the leaves.

Q: Can this succulent survive without watering during travel?
A: Haworthia Viscosa easily survives 10-day trips without water because its thick leaves store water reserves.

Q: How do you propagate Haworthia Viscosa?
A: Separate offset clusters from the mother plant during repotting, allow cut surfaces to callus for 24-48 hours, then plant in dry succulent soil.

Q: What happens if temperatures drop below freezing?
A: Haworthia Viscosa cannot survive frost below 32°F, so outdoor plants in zones 9-11 need frost protection during winter cold snaps.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
