  •   Haworthia resendeana is a compact rosette succulent in the family Asphodelaceae, native to the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It grows in rocky, semi-arid terrain where it shelters under shrubs and receives filtered light through surrounding vegetation.

The leaves are thick, firm, and forest green, arranged in a tight stacked rosette that stays low and dense. Each leaf is lined with small white tubercles along the edges and surface, giving the plant a textured, spotted appearance. It stays compact, typically reaching only a few inches across, and is considered a rare collector find among haworthia succulent enthusiasts.

Haworthia Resendeana produces slender flower stalks that carry small, tubular white flowers, typically in late spring or summer. Flowering happens once the plant is mature and settled, though the blooms are modest and the foliage carries the visual weight year-round. This plant is pet friendly, so cats and dogs can share the same space without concern.

Rotate it every few weeks so all sides receive even light exposure. You can move it outside in summer, but cover it from rain to avoid waterlogged soil. Office fluorescent or LED lighting is enough for it to grow steadily, though it stays a slow-growing succulent throughout its life. Haworthia Resendeana releases oxygen at night, and a well-established specimen can go up to ten days without water.

  •   Haworthia resendeana grows well in bright indirect light and holds up under standard office LED or fluorescent lighting.

Water it every 10-14 days in spring and summer, and reduce to once a month in winter, allowing soil to dry fully between waterings.

Haworthia Resendeana does best in a fast-draining cactus and perlite mix, with at least 50% inorganic grit to prevent root rot.

It prefers temperatures between 65-80°F and stays away from AC vents and heater drafts, which can dry and damage the leaves.

Haworthia Resendeana is a slow-growing succulent; feed it with a diluted balanced fertilizer once in spring and once in summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11, tolerating outdoor temperatures down to around 25°F briefly. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and other warm-climate states in those zones.
  • Q: Is Haworthia resendeana safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and pet friendly for both cats and dogs.

Q: How much light does this succulent need?
A: Haworthia resendeana does well a few feet from a north or east-facing window, or directly under office LEDs. A south-facing window can scorch the leaves if the plant sits too close to the glass.

Q: Can Haworthia Resendeana survive while I'm away on a trip?
A: You can leave it up to ten days without water without any issue. Make sure the soil is dry before you leave.

Q: Why are the leaves on my plant turning yellow?
A: Haworthia Resendeana most often yellows from overwatering. Check that the soil has dried out fully before watering again, and confirm the pot has a drainage hole.

Q: How do I propagate Haworthia Resendeana?
A: Remove offsets that form at the base once they are at least an inch wide. Let the cut end callous for a day or two, then pot into dry grit mix and water after a week.

Q: Is this a rare plant?
A: Haworthia Resendeana is a less common species in the broader haworthia family and is sought after by collectors for its compact, textured rosette form.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
