  •   Hoya Chouke is a rare tropical wax plant from the Apocynaceae family, believed to be a cultivated hybrid developed from Southeast Asian hoya species. It grows well in warm, humid environments with bright filtered light and excellent airflow around its roots.

Hoya Chouke produces thick, waxy leaves with a deep green finish that catches the light. Its trailing vines grow in long cascades, making it recognizable as a hanging or draping specimen. The foliage has that classic porcelain flower hoya quality, glossy and substantial.

Hoya Chouke is valued first and foremost for its trailing foliage, and collectors often seek it out well before it ever blooms. Verified bloom details for this cultivar are limited, though a slight nighttime temperature drop may encourage flowering, a common trigger across the hoya genus. It actively purifies indoor air and filters formaldehyde and other toxins.

Hoya Chouke is pet friendly and non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it a rare find for plant-loving households with curious companions. It does especially well in a hanging basket or mounted on a ceiling hook where its vines can cascade naturally. Sensitive to being moved once settled, it responds to a permanent bright spot with steady, healthy growth. It grows well near kitchen moisture and bathroom humidity, away from air conditioning vents and heater outlets that can stress the foliage.

  •   Hoya Chouke grows well in bright indirect light and can adapt to growing under office LED grow lights.

Water it thoroughly every 10 to 14 days, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings.

Hoya Chouke prefers a chunky, fast-draining mix of perlite, orchid bark, and a small amount of quality potting soil.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 85°F and should be kept well away from frost.

Hoya Chouke is a moderate grower that benefits from a balanced liquid fertilizer applied monthly during the active growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10 and 11, where temperatures rarely dip below 30°F, and is not frost tolerant. It grows outdoors year-round in frost-free regions including Hawaii, South Florida, and the southernmost parts of California, Texas, and Arizona. Move it outdoors once nighttime temperatures stay reliably above 60°F in regions across Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Nevada, coastal Oregon, and beyond.
  • Q: Is Hoya Chouke pet friendly?
A: It is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs, making it an excellent choice for pet-owning households.

Q: How should this trailing plant be displayed at home?
A: Hoya Chouke looks great in a hanging basket or mounted on a ceiling hook, allowing the long vines to cascade naturally. Rotate it regularly to encourage even growth on all sides.

Q: How often should Hoya Chouke be watered?
A: Watch for leaf wilting as your signal to water. The 10 to 14 day schedule works for most indoor conditions, but adjust based on your home's humidity and light.

Q: Does this plant need humidity?
A: High humidity supports Hoya Chouke best. Place it near a kitchen or bathroom where ambient moisture levels are naturally higher, or mist the foliage weekly.

Q: Can Hoya Chouke tolerate low light?
A: It survives under LED grow lights in offices but reaches its best appearance with bright indirect light from a window. Direct sun from south-facing windows can scorch the leaves.

Q: Is this a rare plant?
A: Hoya Chouke is a rare hybrid that is not commonly found in mainstream garden centers, making it a notable addition to serious hoya or rare plant collections.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
