  •   6 inch Hoya Australis Lisa is a rare variegated wax vine native to Australia and parts of Southeast Asia, where it climbs through tropical and subtropical forests. This cultivar has developed a devoted collector following for its combination of genuine rarity and visual appeal.

Hoya Australis Lisa features thick, waxy leaves splashed with creamy yellow and soft pink variegation at the center, deepening to green at the edges. New growth flushes rosy red before maturing, creating an ever-changing appearance as the plant develops. The trailing vines grow long, making this variegated wax vine one of the most visually distinctive hoyas available.

Given the right conditions, it produces clusters of star-shaped, porcelain-white flowers with pink-red centers that carry a sweet, honey-like fragrance. Blooms appear most reliably when the plant experiences a slight nighttime temperature drop, which signals the flowering cycle to begin. Keeping it slightly root-bound and avoiding frequent repotting also encourages those porcelain flower clusters to appear.

Hoya Australis Lisa trails beautifully from a hanging hook or drapes from a high shelf, safely out of reach of curious pets and toddlers since the sap can cause skin or paw irritation if handled. It loves the ambient moisture near a kitchen and does well with a summer stint outdoors. You can leave it up to ten days without water. Rotate it regularly for even, full growth and keep it away from AC vents or heater drafts to maintain the variegated foliage at its best.

  •   6 inch Hoya Australis Lisa grows well in bright indirect light and will scorch in direct south-facing window sun.

Water it every 10-14 days in summer, less in winter, letting soil dry out completely between waterings.

Hoya Australis Lisa does best in a well-draining mix of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark in equal parts.

It prefers temperatures between 60-85°F and should never be exposed to frost.

Hoya Australis Lisa grows at a moderate pace and benefits from a balanced liquid fertilizer monthly during the growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11, staying above 25°F. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Nevada. Parts of coastal Oregon, Washington, and North Carolina within zone 9 can also support it outdoors with minimal winter protection.
  • Q: How often should I water 6 inch Hoya Australis Lisa?
A: Water every 10-14 days in warmer months and reduce to every 3-4 weeks in winter. Always let the soil dry out between waterings.

Q: Is it safe for pets?
A: 6 inch Hoya Australis Lisa is not fully pet-safe, as the sap can cause skin and paw irritation. Keep it on a high shelf out of reach of pets and small children.

Q: How do I get Hoya Australis Lisa to bloom?
A: Provide a slight nighttime temperature drop in late fall or winter and keep the plant somewhat root-bound. Avoid moving or repotting it frequently, as it is sensitive to change.

Q: Will it grow under office LED lighting?
A: Hoya Australis Lisa can adapt to growing under bright office LED lighting, making it a viable choice for well-lit desk or shelf spaces.

Q: Can I move Hoya Australis Lisa outside in summer?
A: Move it to a shaded or dappled-light outdoor spot during warm months to boost growth and encourage blooming. Bring it back indoors before nighttime temperatures drop below 50°F.

Q: How do I propagate it?
A: Take a stem cutting with at least one node, let it callous briefly, then root it in moist sphagnum moss or water. It roots reliably within a few weeks in warm, humid conditions.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
