  •   Native to South Africa, Ficus Triangularis Variegata belongs to the Moraceae Family and has a very distinctive look. It has triangular leaves (hence the name!) with creamy yellow and green variegated patterns. Each leaf has a unique color marking, making Ficus Triangularis Variegata a showy, decorative houseplant for any living space.

Ficus Triangularis is a slow grower and will eventually reach about 6 feet indoors, making it a perfect plant for floor-standing planters.

Ficus Triangularis isn't a very demanding plant, but it needs the right lighting and humidity condition to maintain its variegation.

As a Ficus, Triangularis is very effective in cleaning the indoor air and removing common airborne toxins.

Though it is very rare, Ficus Triangularis may bloom tiny berry-like flowers that are usually called figs (syconia).

  • Ficus's ideal lighting is bright, indirect sunlight. Plenty of light helps this Ficus plant grow faster, taller, and bushier. However, scorching sun might burn the leaves, so give your Ficus lots of filtered light. Low light conditions will cause fading variegation and leaf dropping. This plant does tolerate fluorescent lights.

Ficus Triangularis needs moderate watering, which should keep the topsoil always slightly moist. The frequency of watering depends on the size of the pot (and the size of the plant), as well as your environment. You should therefore check the soil's moisture level at least once per week and water when the top 2''-4'' of the soil is dry to the touch. Water thoroughly to prevent salt build-up, as this plant is very sensitive to high salt levels.

This plant loves rich, well-draining soils. Mixing some perlite with houseplant potting soil will do the trick. You should also pick a planter with at least one drainage hole.

Triangularis grows well at normal room temperature (between 60 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit)and average room humidity (40-50%), but it grows faster with a bit more air moisture, so mist your plant and use a humidifier on dry days.

This plant should be fertilized once during the growing season (spring/summer) with diluted houseplant fertilizer.

Ficus plants are toxic if ingested so keep your Triangularis away from curious pets and children.

  • Provide porous soil with adequate drainage, pots with drainage hole are recommended. Bright, filtered light and ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Never let your succulents sit in water. Do NOT water on the leaves. If you water from beneath by letting the plant sit in a saucer of water, make sure to pour off any excess water after a few minutes. The hotter it is outside, the faster your soil will dry out, so you’ll need to water more often if you live in a hot area. Water with caution in winter, as the plant can lose its roots if the soil stays cold and wet for extended periods; protect from frost to prevent scarring.
