  •   Peperomia Polybotrya 'Raindrop', also called coin leaf peperomia, is a tropical houseplant native to the rainforests of Colombia and Peru. It belongs to the Piperaceae family and grows naturally in warm, humid understory conditions.

The leaves are large, glossy, and teardrop-shaped, tapering to a pointed tip with a slightly heart-shaped base. Each leaf sits on a slender upright stem and can grow several inches long, with a smooth, deep green surface. New leaves emerge lighter green and deepen as they mature.

Raindrop Peperomia produces slender, rat-tail flower spikes, typical of the peperomia genus, but they are small and not the main reason most people grow it. It is pet friendly, so it can sit at floor level or on low shelves without concern around cats or dogs.

Rotate Raindrop Peperomia a quarter turn every few weeks so all sides receive even light exposure. It does well near a kitchen, where ambient moisture from cooking and washing keeps the air from getting too dry. Keep it away from heating vents and air conditioning units, as direct airflow from either dries the leaves and soil too quickly. It also fits well in a terrarium, where humidity stays more consistent. You can leave it up to ten days without water, and it wilts slightly when the soil is dry and it needs a drink.

  •   Peperomia Polybotrya 'Raindrop' grows well in bright indirect light, away from direct sun exposure.

Water it every 10-14 days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry between waterings.

Raindrop Peperomia does best in a well-draining mix of peat and perlite or a chunky aroid blend.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and should stay away from cold drafts or vents.

Raindrop Peperomia is a slow to moderate grower; feed it with a balanced liquid fertilizer monthly during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10-12, where frost is rare and temperatures stay above 30°F. It grows outdoors year-round in Florida, Hawaii, and southern California. It can also move outside for summer in zones 9 and below, then come back indoors before temperatures drop.
  • Q: Is Peperomia Polybotrya 'Raindrop' safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and pet friendly, so placement around cats and dogs is not a concern.

Q: How much light does this plant need?
A: Peperomia Polybotrya 'Raindrop' does best within a few feet of an east or north-facing window. A south-facing window can scorch the leaves unless the plant sits well back from the glass.

Q: How do I know when Raindrop Peperomia needs water?
A: It wilts slightly and the leaves lose a little firmness when the soil is dry. Check the top inch of soil before watering rather than going by a fixed schedule.

Q: Can this plant survive in an office with no natural windows?
A: Raindrop Peperomia grows under office LED grow lights or bright fluorescent fixtures placed close enough overhead. Without sufficient light, growth slows and new leaves stay small.

Q: Can Raindrop Peperomia go in a terrarium?
A: Yes, it fits well in an open or lightly covered terrarium where humidity stays more consistent than open room air. Keep it from sitting in standing water, since the roots are prone to rot in soggy conditions.

Q: How big does this plant get?
A: Raindrop Peperomia typically reaches 10-12 inches tall and wide at maturity indoors, growing as a compact upright plant.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
