  •   Peperomia Little Toscani, also called radiator plant, is a compact mounding peperomia (Peperomia caperata) native to the tropical rainforests of Brazil. It belongs to the Piperaceae family and grows naturally on the forest floor, where it receives filtered light beneath a dense canopy.

The leaves are small, heart-shaped, and deeply ridged with a corrugated texture that runs across the entire surface. Coloring runs from deep green to burgundy-red depending on light exposure, with silver-striped foliage along the leaf veins catching the light. It forms a low, dense mound and stays compact, rarely spreading beyond the edges of its pot.

Little Toscani Peperomia produces slim, upright flower spikes called rat-tail inflorescences, which rise above the foliage in pale cream or greenish-white. These appear most often in late summer or autumn and have no notable fragrance. It is pet-friendly and non-toxic to cats and dogs, and it actively purifies indoor air by filtering formaldehyde and other common household toxins.

Rotate it every few weeks so all sides receive even light and the mound stays symmetrical. It fits well inside a terrarium, where the enclosed space moderates temperature and provides gentle ambient moisture. Keep it away from heating vents and air conditioning units, as direct airflow from either causes the leaves to dry out and curl. It also does well near a kitchen, where ambient moisture from cooking suits it. Cover it or bring it indoors during rain if placed outside, and avoid positioning it in a south-facing window where the leaves can scorch.

  •   Peperomia Little Toscani grows well in bright indirect light and also performs under standard office LED lighting.

Water it every 10 to 14 days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings.

Little Toscani Peperomia does best in a well-draining mix of perlite and peat or a cactus blend amended with perlite.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and should not drop below 50°F.

Little Toscani Peperomia is a slow to moderate grower; feed it with a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10 to 12, where frost is rare and temperatures stay above 30°F to 35°F year-round. It grows outdoors in Hawaii, southern Florida, and frost-free coastal areas of Southern California. In cooler states, it performs best as a permanent indoor plant.
  • Q: How do I know when Peperomia Little Toscani needs water?
A: It wilts slightly and the leaves soften when the soil has been dry too long. Check the top inch of soil before watering rather than following a fixed schedule.

Q: What kind of light does this plant need?
A: Peperomia Little Toscani does well a few feet back from an east or west-facing window. South-facing windows can scorch the leaves, so keep it out of direct sun from that direction.

Q: Is Little Toscani Peperomia safe for cats and dogs?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic and pet-friendly for both cats and dogs.

Q: How do I propagate this plant?
A: Little Toscani Peperomia propagates well from leaf cuttings or stem cuttings placed in moist soil or water. Roots typically appear within three to four weeks.

Q: Can Little Toscani Peperomia survive while I travel?
A: You can leave it up to ten days without water before the soil dries out enough to stress it.

Q: Does this plant clean the air?
A: Little Toscani Peperomia filters formaldehyde and other indoor toxins from the surrounding air.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
