  •   Monstera Deliciosa, also called Swiss Cheese Plant, is a tropical evergreen native to the rainforests of southern Mexico and Central America. In its natural habitat, it climbs toward the forest canopy beneath filtered light, developing the characteristic fenestrations that make it one of the world's most recognizable houseplants. A member of the Araceae family, this air purifying plant grows in homes and offices worldwide.

The leaves are enormous, glossy, and heart-shaped, developing dramatic natural splits and holes as the plant matures. These perforations, called fenestrations, are a sign of a healthy, mature specimen and give the plant its iconic appearance. It grows in an upright habit and can reach impressive heights indoors, making it a statement piece for any room with bright indirect light available.

Monstera Deliciosa produces a cream-white spathe flower under the right conditions, though indoor blooming is rare and typically requires a noticeable drop in nighttime temperatures to trigger. Outdoors in warm climates, it blooms more consistently, and the spadix eventually ripens into an edible fruit with a flavor described as a blend of pineapple and banana. Monstera Deliciosa produces aerial rootlets that attach to moss poles or climbing supports, mimicking its natural rainforest behavior.

The plant filters formaldehyde and other indoor toxins and grows well near kitchens where ambient moisture provides a natural boost. Choose your spot thoughtfully, as moving it frequently can stress the plant. Use a heavy pot to anchor its deep roots, rotate it occasionally for even growth, and keep it on a high shelf away from cats, dogs, and toddlers, as the leaves and sap can cause irritation on contact or if nibbled.

  •   Monstera Deliciosa grows well in bright indirect light and scorches easily if placed directly in a south-facing window.

Water it thoroughly every 1-2 weeks, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings.

Monstera Deliciosa grows best in a well-draining mix of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep roots aerated and healthy.

It prefers temperatures between 65-85°F and should be kept away from cold drafts, air conditioning vents, and heating units.

Monstera Deliciosa is a fast grower during spring and summer and benefits from a balanced liquid fertilizer applied monthly through the growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10-12, tolerating temperatures no lower than about 50°F before cold damage becomes a concern. It grows outdoors year-round in Hawaii, southern Florida, coastal and southern California, southern Texas, southern Arizona, and the southernmost parts of Louisiana and Mississippi. Gardeners in cooler states like Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Nevada, and along the Oregon coast can still enjoy it as a patio plant through spring and summer, bringing it indoors once temperatures begin to fall.
  • Q: How often should I water Monstera Deliciosa?
A: Check the top inch of soil with your finger; water only when it feels dry. Overwatering causes root rot more often than underwatering does.

Q: Is it safe around pets and children?
A: Monstera Deliciosa contains compounds that cause mouth and skin irritation if nibbled or touched by cats, dogs, and toddlers, so place it on a high shelf away from reach.

Q: What kind of light does Monstera Deliciosa need?
A: It adapts well to bright indirect light and also grows under office LED lighting, but avoid direct south-facing sun exposure.

Q: How fast does it grow?
A: Monstera Deliciosa produces new leaves regularly through spring and summer when given consistent warmth, bright indirect light, and monthly fertilizing.

Q: Can Swiss Cheese Plant go outside in summer?
A: Yes, move it outside to a warm, sheltered spot with bright indirect light. Bring it back indoors before nighttime temperatures drop in autumn.

Q: How do I propagate Swiss Cheese Plant?
A: Take a stem cutting that includes at least one node and place it in water or moist soil. Roots typically emerge within two to three weeks.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
