  •   Ficus Ginseng, also called Ginseng Bonsai, is a tropical fig tree native to Southeast Asia and parts of China, belonging to the Moraceae family. It is grown as an indoor bonsai tree, shaped over time to highlight its thick, bulbous trunk and exposed aerial roots.

The trunk is wide and rounded at the base, narrowing upward into branching stems, with surface roots that grip and spread across the soil. Dark green, glossy leaves grow in dense clusters along the branches, each leaf small and oval-shaped with a smooth surface. The overall form follows a classic bonsai tree silhouette, compact and layered.

Ficus Ginseng rarely flowers indoors, so its appeal comes from the trunk and foliage year-round. It filters indoor air and removes formaldehyde and other airborne toxins from the surrounding environment. Rotating the pot regularly keeps growth even on all sides, since branches reach toward any consistent light source.

Move it outside once temperatures stay reliably above 60°F in summer, and bring it back indoors before autumn nights drop. Ficus Ginseng is sensitive to being moved between spots, and leaves may drop during the adjustment period. Keep it away from air conditioning vents and heating units, and place it in a room with naturally higher humidity, such as near a kitchen. Cats and dogs shouldn't be left to nibble or eat the plant, the sap can also irritate paws or skin on contact, and it is best placed on a high shelf away from small children.

  •   Ficus Ginseng grows well in bright indirect light, placed near an east or west-facing window.

Water it every 10 to 14 days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry between waterings.

Ficus Ginseng does best in a well-draining bonsai mix combined with perlite or coarse sand.

It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 75°F and drops leaves when exposed to cold drafts or sudden temperature shifts.

Ficus Ginseng is a slow-growing indoor bonsai tree, fertilized monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10 to 12, tolerating outdoor temperatures no lower than 30°F to 35°F before cold damage occurs. It grows outdoors year-round in Florida, Hawaii, and southern California, as well as in parts of Texas, Arizona, and Louisiana that fall within those zones.
  • Q: How sensitive is Ficus Ginseng to being moved around the house?
A: It drops leaves when relocated, even if the new spot has similar light. Pick one permanent location and keep it there.

Q: How do I know when it needs water?
A: Ficus Ginseng wilts slightly and the leaves lose a little firmness when the soil has been dry too long. Check the top inch of soil with your finger before each watering.

Q: Can Ficus Ginseng grow under office lighting?
A: It can grow under bright LED office lighting as long as the light runs for at least 10 to 12 hours per day.

Q: Is this plant safe around pets and children?
A: Ficus Ginseng should be kept out of reach of cats, dogs, and small children. The sap can irritate skin and paws on contact, and the plant should not be eaten.

Q: Does Ginseng Bonsai need special humidity care indoors?
A: It needs higher humidity than most homes naturally provide. A pebble tray with water beneath the pot or placement near a kitchen helps maintain the moisture level it needs.

Q: How fast does Ginseng Bonsai grow?
A: Ginseng Bonsai is a slow grower, typically putting out a modest flush of new leaves in spring and summer. Growth slows considerably in winter.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
