  •   Callisia Repens f. variegata Pink Lady (Turtle Vine) - Pink Panther Plant, also called Turtle Vine, is a creeping perennial in the Commelinaceae family native to Central and South America. It carpets tropical forest floors in its native habitat and has traveled into homes and gardens worldwide as a trailing houseplant that grows well in warm, humid climates.

The foliage features small oval leaves patterned like turtle shells and striped in green, cream, and bubblegum pink. Dense foliage grows along trailing stems, creating a cascading curtain of color. Available in 2" and 4" sizes, it grows either as a wide spreader or a tidy narrow grower depending on how you train and prune it. The pink and green tones intensify in bright indirect light.

Callisia 'Pink Lady' is grown primarily for its variegated foliage rather than its flowers, which are tiny and infrequent under typical indoor conditions.

It filters formaldehyde and other indoor toxins, earning recognition as an air-purifying plant. The trailing habit suits hanging baskets with a sturdy hook, while compact rosettes work beautifully in terrariums. Stem cuttings root easily in water or moist soil within a couple of weeks, making Callisia 'Pink Lady' straightforward to propagate. Rotate the pot regularly for even, balanced growth.

  •   Callisia Repens f. variegata Pink Lady (Turtle Vine) - Pink Panther Plant grows well in bright indirect light but also grows well under standard office LEDs.

Water it every 7-10 days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry. It wilts slightly when thirsty.

Callisia 'Pink Lady' does best in a well-draining mix of standard potting soil blended with perlite in a 2:1 ratio.

It prefers temperatures between 60-85°F and should stay away from air conditioning vents and heater drafts.

Callisia 'Pink Lady' is a fast grower that benefits from regular pinching and light balanced fertilizer monthly in spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11 and tolerates brief dips to around 25°F but prefers consistently frost-free conditions. It grows outdoors year-round in Florida, California, Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Nevada, as well as the Oregon coast. Gardeners in Zone 8 states such as Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, and parts of Virginia and Washington can grow it outdoors seasonally, moving it indoors before the first frost.
  • Q: How much light does Callisia Repens f. variegata Pink Lady (Turtle Vine) - Pink Panther Plant need?
A: Bright indirect light brings out the strongest pink tones, but it tolerates low-light spots including office corners. Keep it away from south-facing windows where direct sun scorches the leaves.

Q: Is this plant safe around pets and children?
A: Callisia Repens f. variegata Pink Lady (Turtle Vine) - Pink Panther Plant should be placed out of reach on a high shelf. The sap can cause skin and paw irritation if cats or dogs nibble it.

Q: How fast does Callisia 'Pink Lady' grow?
A: Under good conditions, it produces new stems and leaves regularly. Regular pruning keeps trailing stems full and tidy, and pinching back leggy growth encourages bushier development.

Q: How do I propagate this plant?
A: Callisia 'Pink Lady' stems root easily in water or moist soil within a couple of weeks. Snip a healthy stem just below a node and place it in water or well-draining mix.

Q: Can Turtle Vine work in a terrarium?
A: Yes, it fits terrariums well thanks to its compact trailing habit and tolerance for the warm, stable environment a closed or open terrarium provides.

Q: What zones allow outdoor growing year-round?
A: Turtle Vine grows outdoors year-round in zones 9-11 and handles brief drops to 25°F. Gardeners in zone 8 can move it outside for summer and autumn before bringing it in before freezing temperatures arrive.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
