Anthurium 'Pink', also called Flamingo Flower, is a tropical flowering houseplant in the Araceae family, native to the rainforests of Central and South America. It grows naturally beneath forest canopies, where filtered light and high humidity are constant.

The leaves are heart-shaped, glossy, and deep green, growing on upright stems that give the plant a compact, tidy form. The spathe, the broad modified leaf that surrounds the flower spike, is a soft pink that holds its color for weeks. The waxy surface of the spathe gives it a lacquered appearance.

'Pink' blooms in that pink-to-coral range and can produce flowers multiple times throughout the year when conditions are right. The blooms are long-lasting, often staying fresh for six to eight weeks before fading. It filters formaldehyde and other indoor toxins from the air, and naturally humidifies the space around it.

Rotating it every few weeks encourages even growth on all sides. It thrives near the natural moisture of a kitchen and grows well under bright office LEDs. Keep it on a high shelf or out of reach, as the sap causes skin and paw irritation, cats and dogs should not be left to nibble or eat it, and it is best placed away from small children. It is sensitive to air from AC vents and heaters, so avoid positioning it near either.

You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
