The 6 inch Sweetheart Ivy Plant, also called English ivy, is a trailing vine in the Araliaceae family native to Europe, western Asia, and North Africa. It has been grown indoors for generations and remains one of the most widely recognized trailing ivy vines available.

The leaves are small and heart-shaped, with a glossy surface and pointed tips. They grow on long, flexible stems that trail and vine outward as the plant matures. Foliage is deep green, sometimes showing lighter veining, and each leaf sits on a short petiole along the stem.

Sweetheart Ivy is grown primarily for its foliage rather than its flowers. It filters formaldehyde and other toxins from indoor air, and it performs this function year-round as a low light trailing plant.

Hang it in a basket near a kitchen window, where the ambient moisture supports the humidity it needs. Rotate it every few weeks so all sides receive even light exposure. Keep it away from air conditioning vents and heating units, as direct airflow dries out the leaves. Move it outside for the summer months, and bring it back in before the first frost.
